Jiffy Lube = theft

This happened to me at 2 Jiffy Lubes. They try to sell you the expensive oil and say your manufacturer recommends it. Last time I took my car to the Honda dealership I asked them if they recommend that oil and they said NO, they are trying to make extra money.

Then of course they tried to sell me more junk. Wanted to replace my air filter from my heater inside the car for $50 and also change my transmission oil.

No, I'll just take the regular oil and nothing else.

This same thing happened at 2 different Jiffy Lubes. Don't think it will be long until we see a lawsuit against them.

so they did something you didn't agree to?

salesmanship != theft

you are overreacting. just don't go there anymore if you don't like their service
*edit*
if i was you, i would write a letter to the coporate HQ of jiffy lube and tell them the store where you were lied to. that is what i would do

good luck!

..they like to use channel lock pliers on your oil drain plug too. I think that's the only tool they have.

Jiffy Lube SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$53.99 for a $&*@!$# oil change?!?

"Oh, but we top off your fluids, vacuum your floormats, clean your windows, yadda yadda yadda....."

me: "My truck is already clean and I take care of my own maintenance. How much for "Just" an oil change?

Them: "We don't do "just" oil changes, you get the whole package!

Me: F^ck off.

What I didn't like is them saying my manufacturer recommends. That is false advertising from their chain. I don't think I'm over reacting. They are ripping people off.

Can you give me an example of salesmanship=theft?

Do you want to biggie size is not a lie, but salesmanship.

Does the Wendy's guy say your doctor recommends that you Biggie size it?

I don't think people even read threads before posting....

i don't think false advertising and theft are the same either

although false advertising is more serious than good salesmanship

but i am not sure your example qualifies for false advertising either. i am not saying the employee didn't lie to you

LOL. Learn to change the oil yourself. It's a rather simple process that entails removing a oil pan bolt, placing a bucket or something to use to drain the oil, removing the filter, replacing the filter, and then the bolt and filling your engine with new oil.

Good except I'd place the oil pan before removing the drain plug!

Oh and always check under your car after you pour the first quart of oil in... that way you haven't wasted all your oil when you discover you left the drain plug out.

I think oil changes are great for people to do on their own; sadly the ONE time I went to Jiffy Lube I just did not have the time to do it myself. What a crock. After that I somehow found time to do it myself.

The problem isn't changing the oil, it's disposing of the old oil.

Or find a place that will do it for $9.95, that way you don't have to worry about disposing of the used oil.
