JETTA!!

Somewhat dismayed by the vehicles on EBAY and at honest bobs 30% apr inhouse financing operations, I decided I'd try one more first time buyer program.

GM wants $3000 down on a 18K sunfire.......(making loan amount $11K). I didn't have that much down.
Chrysler won't do anything.

VW........has me, by myself with no cosigner, pending credit class D. 10.9% APR if a guy at VW says yes on monday. 10% down on 13K jetta.


33K miles, power locks, air, abs, cd, 4 cylinder, auto

and the interior........is amazing .....ill never look at a pontiac interior quite the same way again.

I know they're not considered the pinnacle of reliability............but it seems very nice for what they're asking.........and they may be able to get me financed where no one else can.

Well...we've had great experience with our VWs, but the Jettas are manufactured in Mexico, that doesn't help them at all. The 1.8T engine is great...and...yeah.

I have absolutely no idea, but it happened to my friend's Jetta. The back windows just fell down into the doors one day. The shop told him it wasn't the first time they'd seen it with a Jetta. Brand new car, too. I imagine it can't be too common, but that's still crazy.

It's called a window regulator, a little plastic clip in the window mechanism somewhere that is notorious for breaking. VW issued an unofficial recall of them about a year ago, to replace them with metal clips I believe.

fall out? well yeah they just do ,not sure how I have personally only seen them slide down some of the way and a friends VR6.

I have had 2 jetta's so far. I had an 89 back in in High School I sold it like 3 years ago it had 240K then and it didn't really have to many problems at all other than the oil light would come on when I would go exactly 53mph in the winter time. I see that car still running today just fine (small town).
I don't want to know how many miles are on it now.

The one I own now is decent, it looks alot better atleast nice paint job anyways. It's a 94 with 150K on it the only electrical problemit has are that the cruise control will turn off when I go down a BIG hill sometimes. I don't use CC anyways though. Also the sun roof seems to have come off the rails so it doesn't work right =(

Like I said, you don't know what you're talking about. They had a bad batch of coilpacks, they only affected certain years after 2001.5 (engine has been around since 1995), they're easily fixed, and they're fixed for free under a recall. And, once they're fixed, they don't go bad again. So like I said, anyone who says otherwise....

They had a bad batch of coilpacks, they only affected certain years after 2001.5 (engine has been around since 1995), they're easily fixed, and they're fixed for free under a recall. And, once they're fixed, they don't go bad again. So like I said, anyone who says otherwise....

Exactly. The 1.8T engine is solid.

I just explained to you why it isn't a problem. It's called a recall, every manufacturer has them. McFly? Anybody home, McFly?

It doesn't matter if it was a problem. EVERY car has problems. And the coilpack problem was relatively minor. And amdforever2 isn't going to have a problem, so to him it's a moot point. The way they handled the problem isn't what you brought up initially. "The 1.8T engine is great, when it's working" is what you said.

We don't even know if amdforever is getting the 1.8T anyway; all he said was 4 cylinder. It could be VW's 2.0 liter engine, which while not being an exceptional performer, is drop dead reliable.

the way they handled the problem was part and parcel with the problem itself. vw made it harder to get it fixed by going back to what audi used to do and just denying that there was a problem. they did that for months.

edit: yeah, great, he may not be getting that motor, i wasn't responding to him anyway, you'll note

My mom's boyfriend has an 02 Jetta TDI, wonderful little car with great gas milage, but electrical problems like a crazy bitch. He gets in it one day, turns the key to start, and the digital readout thing is just 0's. Car won't do anything. Local place checks it out, can't figure it out, has to be towed to Little Rock, 2 hours away for a complete diagnostic. That's about the worst one.

My boss's wife has a new Beetle. Has been in the shop eight times for different electrical problems. The other day, the blinkers just quit working. They are going for the lemon law with the last one.
