Idk, I thought that about traditional kukri going by those rings in the middle, but holding one it wasn't bad at all. Not my cup of tea (too small generally) but providing additional bulk in the middle for grip works. Probably isn't an issue for a flat hold, but regardless I don't think the owner had to worry too much about repetitive stress injuries or callouses.

He would actually drink a case (12 bottles) of wine--usually chardonnay, I think per night for like...years. That was sort of his standard level to start the evening, to remove "the pain."
