Uhh... duh? Did you forget that the Republican Party was founded to prevent the expansion of slavery into western territories with the express goal of abolishing it completely? Abraham Lincoln was the very first Republican President. That’s how we got our 13th Amendment.

By 1900 no congressional Democrat was African American but 22 Republicans were. The first elected African American Democrat was in 1935 though the party filibustered the Republican-led Civil Rights Act decades later.

It’s funny that you would think it’s “funny” for a black man to be a Republican, especially in his day and age. It was only in recent decades that your idea of the Republicans became normal.

My knowledge of the Republican Party is just fine, thanks. If you read the stuff you didn't know thread I did a whole thing on the origins of the KKK and Republicans in the south. I just find it amusing that a black man founded the Republican Party in what us essentially the most racist state in the nation now and rightfully questioned how proud Small would be of what he begat. Would you have gotten the gist if I used smaller words and simpler questions that were not beyond you? Let's try.

Roberts Smalls founded the Republicans in South Carolina. They're the most anti-black state in the USA and their Republicans would love to return to slavery if they could get away with it. D'OH!!!!
