A good friend of mine has been fired for one small mistake. He threw away 7 years of medical school and vast amounts of training by sleeping with one of his patients. This just goes to show you how one mistake can ruin your life and career. My thoughts are with him and his family. He really is a great guy and was a BRILLIANT veterinarian.

Symptom of too much wind? I've heard they typically shut them down (or activate a brake?) before abnormally strong winds - I've seen videos of a whole field of windmills with the blades frozen, while one or two windmills burn and rotate very fast. They either have those things on sensor and automatic triggers or manually shut down - either way, that sensor or remote link can probably fail, or the brake may fail, leading to breaching the safe tolerance levels.

my wife makes those blades. a failure like that is caused by many things the leading one is human error in not feathering the blade AND engaging the brake.
