They make those in my town. Didn't even know that was possible.

Symptom of too much wind? I've heard they typically shut them down (or activate a brake?) before abnormally strong winds - I've seen videos of a whole field of windmills with the blades frozen, while one or two windmills burn and rotate very fast. They either have those things on sensor and automatic triggers or manually shut down - either way, that sensor or remote link can probably fail, or the brake may fail, leading to breaching the safe tolerance levels.

I think the brakes can catch fire. Guess there's a lot of flammable wiring or something.

Usually the brakes just burn out and the blades spin until the whole thing disintegrates.
