I just tested the motion with my Charge 2 and they did register as steps.

If it were a real text, the gf was either on the website under his login or his acct is synced to her phone too.

You wear most fitbits on your wrist as a watch, it guesses your steps by the movement of said watch, so it's easy to see how it would interpret furious fapping as running.
