good idea

he better not mess this trilogy up

although my hopes are not that great

My guess is he'll make it into a whole movie of "EVERYONE RUN THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL US! BLOW THINGS UP!" like he did with the Star Trek movies.

never watched the star trek movies so i would have no idea how he makes movies. seems the only movie i remember watching might be armageddon but that was a while ago and i do not remember much of it.

whatever. disney shattered any dreams that i had they might not go full hollywood like mgm or universal when they gave ea full exclusivity on the video games. honestly i feel that george lucas would make better movies than they would

Only an idiot could post this. Star Wars is a tainted franchise that was already screwed up by Lucas. If Episode 7 isn't that good, it still won't be anywhere near the tragedy of the prequels.

preaching the platform?

there are many ways that disney could make this worse than lucas could ever even conjure

Agreed, at least it was the same person "ruining the franchise". Granted I didn't think the prequels were all that bad (ep 1 was a little to childish to watch, but that's the main character.).

Watch it be what Terminator:Salvation was to Terminator :D.

honestly the plots for a new hope and the return of the jedi are much more problematic than the prequels. really a giant space station has trouble with a small group. felt like "letting them go" was a way to fix the plot. same thing with the endor thing. like they would have that much trouble finding the rebels on endor? granted the prequels have their own problems but their plots are at least more sound. the only movie without any major problems is the empire strikes back. wish they had kept the director from that movie

Lucas ruined the franchise. Abrams might be able to resurrect it, or he might not. Still, it was already ruined before he ever touched it.

Do yourself a favor and watch all of the star wars reviews on this site: http://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/star-wars-episode-1-the-phantom-menace/

This represents the taste of anyone who enjoys the prequels:

Lucas ruined the franchise

lucas built the whole franchise

not saying the prequels were good or that j j abrams might make a good movie or not. but they could be far worse than the prequels and the originals have their own problems

The prequels are the worst movies to ever be made with a budget over $100 million. Srsly, watch the red letter media videos

I don't need to read someone else's opinion on movies I personally didn't think were too bad. I've seen PLENTY of movies that were much worse, and had a bigger budget.

Back to the funnies please!

There's a difference between an ignorant opinion and intelligent art criticism. Though, any idiot who defends the prequels isn't going to be able to tell the difference.

It isn't a written opinion. It's a thorough deconstruction of the filmmaking process presented in character as a crazy serial killer. These reviews/deconstruction are FAR more entertaining than the actual movies and almost as long. Just watch them for the entertainment value alone and then see if you can decent the prequel movies. Until you do, we can't take you seriously.

The Red Letter Media "Plinkett Reviews" *are* the "funnies" you seek.

Nah, I'll watch the movies and take it at face value. If I'm suffering through the movie for any reason I'll write it off as a bad movie in my eyes. If I enjoyed/found it interesting I generally would watch it again. I don't need external input on why to like/hate a movie, nor do I need any sort of affirmation from someone else to make me feel better about my opinion.

Ex: Gravity. A lot of people LOVED that movie for it's "art" but I thought it was terribad.

The extent to which people will argue opinions baffles me.

I could see if you idiots were arguing about whether there were 5 or 6 star wars movies made, you know, something that could actually be quantified.

Arguing about how a movie that NONE OF US HAS SEEN YET, will compare to another SET of 3 movies, on a purely subjective scale.... facepalm.
