Besides the burn it with fire, I know there's another gif like this where they are in a tree. I'm assuming they are spiders, but WHY do they group like that?
Actually, not technically spiders.
They're Harvestmen. Arachnids, but not spiders. One truth about them: they definitely cannot bite humans. A misconception: they are not the most venomous - they don't even have venom glands.
As for grouping - they just do that. Some kind of social grouping thing, but nobody truly knows for sure the "why." They aren't well studied.
I think partly for defense: aggregated scent glands probably deter more and larger predators, and that many of them might help them survive certain climates and also perhaps look less appetizing.
