WTF how dunb have you got to be in that situation to choose getting out the car and running away rather than breaking the barrier with your car. You are getting screwed either way but at least you aren't risking dying with one of them.
Looks like the passenger got out. Not the driver.

Could be in a country where the driver is on the right. I can't see a steering wheel.

I thought about that at first too, but I'm pretty sure there aren't any right-hand-drive countries with steering wheels on the right.

*I imagine a complication may be Caribbean islands, which most have traffic driving on the left... but it's possible that the mix of left and right traffic across the islands, and foreign car markets introduce the possibility of seeing the "wrong cars" on the roads. Not sure the legality of that - usually, the only street legal vehicles are those that have the correct "driver's side" corresponding to the side of forward traffic in that specific country.*
