I have to believe that this sort of thing is fairly common in the wild. Think of how many morons there are who do really stupid things, or how often we ourselves just do those stupid little things, like tripping over your own foot, or biting the inside of your own cheek.

But I suppose that animals could have stronger incentives to avoid doing really stupid things. Most people don't have to worry about accidentally falling into water that's got crocodiles or very large snakes in it, looking for a snack of confused primate.
