I wonder how many don't get that.

We already had that conversation in this thread. The last time someone brought it up as an "age test." The problem is that way too many people of the cassette-using generation never once did that or knew of others doing that. I was so into cassettes I had a workstation for duping, splicing, and repairing my eaten-up tapes and I never once held a pen and twirled like a noisemaker. I did, however, insert pencils and turn on an occasion or two when my fingers got tired.

there have been so many of these lately, that I think everybody gets the connection, even people born after the "tape era"

I admit I did it a few times. Nothing worse than taking a tape out of your car's deck and the tape is all stuck inside.
