Pocahontas convinced her Chieftain father to let John Smith live after he raided and or killed several Indians to steal their food and supplies to supports his lazy outfit. He not only went on to raid and kill more, but he essentially kidnapped Pocahontas as ransom to take all their food. There was no love story. She eventually married some other white guy (obviously a fetish of hers or she was too ashamed to return to the tribe).
