Also you must not work in IT. Many people in IT have one monitor turned 90 degrees because you can consume more information that way for the tasks at hand.

Your "many" is disingenuous. I'm in IT and so is my wife and have been for decades. Programmers may use screens turned vertically but the majority of others do not. Watching videos is certainly not a use case.

Bottom line, it's just laziness that people don't turn their phones. The "make it easy to use" Apple crowd certainly hasn't helped. I smiled when the other post mentioned Steve Jobs.
