Compliance would have been setting the gun down, stepping away, putting his hands on his head, and getting down on his knees. Continuing to walk and firing a stolen gun into the air is the exact opposite of compliance.

Criminals still deserve proper police procedure, regardless of how criminal they are, or may appear. Too much aggression will eventually turn this country against itself, and it will be a mess. This is not the thread for that discussion, but that does not work for suicide by cop situations like this. They saved his life by not giving him the chance to kill himself or shoot at cops.
