no disrespect to the thread starter this is all just my opinion
i dont get the appeal, that thing is tacky imo and to viciously defend it by calling fans of other brands snobs is lame. welp ill still take a german car over that gaudy pos anyday, them germans know a thing or two about aesthetics. proportions and driving dynamics on early bmws are perfection. yes some people who drive them are posers but a lot aren't. the brand hasnt become infamous without good reason and you know and i know that they have been the benchmark that other brands like gm were striving for when they were drafting up there v. bmw has been falling off when it comes to there sports sedans, the 3 and the 1 are still good cars but the rest of the brand has gotten boring.
that being said cars like the e39 m5 and e46 m3 are destined to become classics, this thing will be forgotten as soon as that ugly angular body goes out of style. just like the cts before it!

With MB you can't get a manual.
I'm fairly sure that in the US the only manual trans mercedes is the slk, and even overseas no AMG car comes in a manual.
Worries about oil change costs yet ready to throw 40k down the toilet. lol.
Nobody is worried about oil changes at all.
Oil changes, headlight bulbs, 100k powertrain warranties, etc. These are benefits to the CTS-V vs. any exotic that performs as well as the CTS-V. The V is not a Porsche that needs a ridiculous amount of $$$$ whenever it goes into the shop. It's a GM product, with off the shelf and cheap replacement parts, and easily serviced at 1000's of garages across the US.
Seriously the only reason not to like the CTS-V is if you already bought a BMW or Mercedes and you are upside down and stuck with it and unable to trade up to a V.
And yet eats Mustangs and Corvettes at the drag strip and has BMWs, Mercedes, and Porsches for dessert at the 'ring while having at least an equal interior and comfort level, suspension as cush as a Lexus or as hard as a dedicated track car at the touch of a button, with the reliability of a pushrod GM.

I can't imagine many people care about an awd cts-v.
It's all about 'american muscle'... IE huge motor and rwd. I actually think awd would dilute it significantly.
//m and AMG don't do awd and that's the cts-v main competitors.
