Jesus christ how long until I get used to putting contacts in?!

I know you're retired so you'd probably have time, but for me I'm not going to drive 352 miles each way for such an activity.

I had a little trouble at the beginning, now I can put them both in, in under 20 seconds. I usually put a little solution in the contact, but my contacts are enormous, they're like giant cereal bowls I put in my eye.

I have a lot of the same problems. My eyes just don't open wide enough, especially in the mornings, and I have a really tough time getting my contacts in as a result. It's gotten to the point where I've had to spend an hour just to get a pair in. One such time was during my trip out west. I was at Arches, and I woke up at dawn to take pictures. When I got to The Organ and The Courthouse I felt compelled to view this beautiful sunrise with my own two eyes. I didn't want my glasses getting in the way. So I tried putting in my contacts. They just wouldn't go in. An hour later, I'm sitting in my car about to cry because I had missed the sunrise that I had so desperately wanted to see, I had missed the time when I could take the best pictures, and I was seriously about to rip my skin apart in an effort to make my eyes open wider. I wish my eyes weren't so screwed up 🙁

To get your eyes accustomed to being touched, start training yourself to ignore the must-blink reflex. Look up and touch the whites of your eyes with your fingers. Just get used to touching your eyes, and you'll eventually feel fine.

i got my contacts when i was 16 and i'm 22 now. i was having a hard time putting contacts on but practice makes you better. 😀

Give it a week or so...it takes some practice and getting used to.

thats why i keep putting it off. my eyes are so damn sensitive it would take me hours to put them in.

If you aren't getting better at it after a week, you may need to try a different kind. I wore a pair of Bausch and Lomb (sp?) for about a week and they were never comfortable and were hard to get in. Traded for a pair of Accuview (sp?) and they were instantly more comfortable and would go in in a couple of minutes.
