Jericho

I can't tell and I've been watching it for 20 minutes. It ends with some dude putting stupid red pins in a map. The music sucks.

nuclear bombs go off all over and some small town is one of the few places that survived. that's what i take from it.

Nuclear War or something like it. Did you see the first episode?

No unfortunately not. The premise is interesting but the show jumped around a lot when I was watching. I didn't get into the characters.

Is this the first season? I've never heard of it.

This is the second episode.

They are in Jericho, Kansas and see a mushroom cloud to the west (Denver, CO).

They are unable to reach anybody outside the town. A boy is listening to a message from his mother who is on vacation in Atlanta, GA and a blast goes off there as well (what we were led to believe anyways).

So they think that the U.S. is under attack. That is all they know.

I'm a little bit more interested in it now.

From what I can gather is black guy is a terrorist and planted the bombs everywhere. Kind of like somebody that watched fight club a few thousand extra times above fanaticism.

Yeah only on its second episode. The first episode depicted the small, rural town of Jericho which lies somehwere in Colorado. Way off in the distance toward Denver they see a massive mushroom cloud and all utilities go dead, as well as no radio or television. They assume its just Denver that has been "hit" but then they find an answering machine message from some boys mother screaming as something comes close to the hotel room(shockwave) and then the message abruptly ends...the boys mother happened to be in Atlanta.

Normally the premier is so good, I'm forced to watch the rest of the craptastic show. Well, this premier was pretty craptastic in itself.

Wow.

EM bomb as well for a guess.
You mean an EMP? All nukes produce an EMP, but it's only for an instant at detonation and the range is limited. If they weren't close enough to be killed by radiation, the EMP isn't going to affect them.

I don't think the writers did any research. They just have characters stand around for ten minutes staring at each other while they think of a solution to something.

You can watch the entire first episode (and should be available to watch the next episodes as well as most of CBS' most popular shows) on CBS' Innertube site for FREE.

Go to the Jericho section, yada yada yada.

My hunch is that the black guy is some elite anti-terrorist dude who KNEW that the terrorists were planning something and fled to Jericho with his family to be safe.

Either way, you know that he knows a hell of a lot more than he's letting on.

meh, it's TV. Anything is possible.

😉

But if you think about it if you take out all the major communcation/exchange points you'd have no comm.

Yeah, but there'd be no way to do that without completely destroying the entire country. I mean the EAS (originally the EBS) was designed for use in a full-scale nuclear attack from the Soviet Union, so it presumably had huge redundancy built in. Plus you'd still be able to pick up shortwave and ham stuff from other parts of the world.

I know I'm nitpicking, but having a plot hole you could drive a truck through kinda ruins it for me.

Non terrestrial broadcasts (XM for example) would still be good. Be sure to keep a 50$ receiver in your EMP safe survival kit in your Faraday shielded panic cell. (next to the antarctic silver radiation resistant toothpaste and bronze foil for lining of your baseball caps! ) Don't forget to keep the radio activated at all times. 😉

they do look for a HAM radio in the initial pilot- I don't remember if anything comes from it at the moment.
