I dont know why so many of the newer cars are going for this general look. I don't really like to too much 🙁

Because people bitch when it's unique. Please see the Ferrari thread, or the Wrangler thread, or any of the BMW threads.
 
It looks like a pancake. Meaning, when you are cooking pancakes, there are minor differences in size, color, and maybe even taste... but you take a glance at it and can still say it's a pancake.
