They said the same thing about The Cherokee, and the original Grand Cherokee, and even the YJ.

i always liked the styling of those and i think the public did in general

Cherokee was a beautiful car, luxurious and fits the bill. While the LIberty, is just not up to many of Jeep's customers taste, I know a lot of people who owned Cherokees of different time periods, and told me that they just even ignored the possibility of even buying a Liberty, I don't know I think it's the design that pisseseveryone off.

Jeep Liberty's have gained the distinction of being a "chick SUV". I see mostly soccer moms drivng them.

Cherokee beautiful? I've heard it called a lot of things, but never beautiful or luxurious... I liked them, don't get me wrong, but they were in no way beautiful or luxurious...

Yes I think the Cherokee is a good nice car for the price, If was to ever buy an SUV it would be a Cherokee / Laredo, but then again since I am an anti-SUV guy I don't think it's going to make a difference what SUV I like / hate.

He is probably referring to the GRAND Cherokee, which is a compeltely different vehicle than the Chreokee.

Except the Liberty was the first Jeep with IFS. It HAS proven to be a slippery slope for Jeep, judging by the new car based FWD Jeep concepts.

Not true, Jeeps had IFS all the way back in the 40s and 50s. Single transverse leaf spring.

I also recall there being a front wheel drive Willys at one point too.

I would respectfully have to disagree with that statement. In terms of sheer ugly, I don't think it compares to the mid-late 80's Grand Wagoneers sporting the family truckster look with the woodgrain paneling. :D

Wow.. Well that's an on-road Jeep car, not a truck. And since then, up until the Liberty, all Jeeps had two solid axles.

Its not such a bad Jeep really. And they need something for those who aren't tough enough for a real jeep like the Wrangler.

Wow! I was hoping they would at least make it a raleigh type car like a WRX.
This thing is sad.

At least the Liberty can still be turned into a pretty capable off road vehicle, but the Compass is just a 4 door minivan.
