well there's definitely worse ways to spend money! and the kids are old enough that they'll remember it forever.

Some of my best memories are from the multi-week vacations my Dad took the family on when we were kids.... well worth the money & time!

I'll politely refrain from providing the per-day rate for the villa as it was obscene. That said, it's probably on their website anyway as you can book the rooms online.

haha i had to check - and it's not nearly as expensive as i thought it might be, at least in february.

if i ever have anyone to go with, i'll be tempted to visit for 4 or 5 days.

wow. looks amazing, good on you for really going all in an awesome vacation.

did you at least get some middle eastern food? we loved Dubai and love middle eastern food, though its somewhat hard to find a high end middle eastern place. did the dune bashing, the souks, burj, ate at a crazy Iranian restaurant in the old part of town where we were the only English speakers.
we were there a few years ago and were some of the first guests in the Renaissance downtown, the first guest in our room. it was beyond anything we had done before, used lots of points but was totally worth it.

damn, i guess it already changed to a st. regies and all the dining changed. the rooftop was an amazing traditional middle eastern restaurant.

This is way above my pay grade. There's no way in million years I could do a trip like this. Luckily, I know myself and what types of trip I like. While this would be very cool if someone else was paying, I can't bring myself to pay for something like this. So thanks again to Jeeebus for sharing for free what 1%er vacation trip looks like.

yeah honestly, after watching videos of the place, i think it might be too "relax-y" for me despite how amazing it looks.

i prefer my vacations to be action-packed with as many hikes/tours/meals i can fit in a day, and as many destinations as i can visit in a week or two.

i wish i could relax. i need to figure out how someday. but until then, my vacations will be more adventurous than relaxing.

Couple more videos of the squalor we had to endure while in the Maldives. First one is a tour of our overwater bungalow. Second and third are a Maldivian singer from our last night on the island. We essentially had a private dinner/concert on the beach under the stars which was probably my best memory from the whole trip. Only got video of a few songs he sang.
