JD Power is a pretty worthless survey. They are asking a bunch of soccermoms who know jack sh!t about cars to evaluate them. So you are getting different people evaluating different cars, which basically doesn't say much.
So it's nowhere near head to head. People bying a family sedan might consider a firm ride harsh, while people buying sports car might consider soft ride mushy. Also different demographics buy different cars and might be more or less critical than others.
It just doesn't tell me much about the cars.

Hopefully Nissan continues to remain near the top as they continue to pump out slew of new products.

GM is doing pretty nicely.

Too bad Nissan's ratings will go down in 2005's report due to the 2002 Altima.
Piece of crap, cost cutting interior :|

That's only one model, though.

Not surprising that Toyota continues to dominate. What I found ironic, is that this forum is full of GM haters and Nissan lovers, but there margin between GM and Nissan was negligible on the scale. :)

I don't think the Nissan fanboyism is entirely based on reliability. Nissan cars in general are just more exciting. The only GMs car I truly respect is the Corvette.

Exactly.
Though perception has it that Nissan's are much more reliable, fun to drive vehicles than GM.
Not to mention better put together, better interior, better looking, etc.
