We co-drove my turbo Miata. The S.Drive tires were a bit slippery for autox (great on the street) to the point where I'm going to buy some 225/45/15 RS3s in the near future. I don't think that I could have gotten around the track much faster in its current configuration. As it stood I was less than 1s behind Dave, a local with a race class Miata. Last year, with my non-turbo Miata, I was consistently 7-8s behind him.

Had some issues getting tire pressures sorted out, when I initially filled them half of the car was in the sun, the other was in the shade, so the grip was really uneven between sides for the first two runs as the once-cool side warmed up. One tire went from 36psi to 40psi after a single run. Once tire pressure was sorted out the car was much better behaved.

Anyway, here is the video! Bloopers are included for your entertainment.

have you done any track time in either the miata or ms3?

I'm eagerly awaiting the Austin track to be built.

Neither, all of my driving experience has been cone-dodging and driving stupidly fast on fun roads :p

The MS3 will be great for the track, slow in, fast out, and you'll be good to go.

If the RS3 ever become available again. My 615s are near their end and am also thinking about the RS3s.

It was a lot of fun!

I don't think there are many people on AT that track or race their cars, so they don't know what to do with an auto-x video ;)

I've only ran two SCCNH autocrosses, but in my experience they have a tendency to have confusing courses. This was far less confusing than the last one (in which I got lost once)...

I hear September is when the 225/45/15s will be back in stock at Tirerack.. I may just put in another order for a set just in case something happens to my first set.

Awesome! Do post about your experience, and feel free to PM me if you have any questions. (maybe you did already?)

That's lame sauce... I may have to get Z1 Star Specs just because they're in stock...
