Haha, it's winning!

its funny cause the people who dislike rap are pathetic.

make a poll like this, about 2 well known bands who are both respectable, and put the same troll option, and i guarantee you that it would be the losing poll option by a long shot.

they are pathetic because they are coming into a thread that is about RAP and are trolling ...

to me thats pathetic.

most people, when they see a thread topic that is about something they dislike or don't have interest in, they don't go into the thread. and if they do, and they troll, they too are pathetic.

EDIT: and i'm talking about the people who came into this thread and dislike rap, and voted the troll option.

he did not mean your decision to not like it is pathetic but the common thread amonst non rap likers is that they love to tell the world how much rap sucks and people who like rap are stupid. Meanwhile people who hat crap rock or whatever very seldom troll threads like the "pathetic" rap haters.

that was his point.

shows how immature these forums are, that everytime there's a thread about rap it turns into trolling.

That is your opinion. I disagree.

I dont' think Jay Z has any tracks from any albums that is as well versed as The way I am or Lose Yourself.

I love Jay Z, but Eminem is on another level IMO.

Oh, and for what its worth, I think Nas is better than them both.

Thats because rap sucks and requires very little talent.

The only people who have any talent in the industry are those like Dre who produce everyone elses music. The world of Pop music and Rap music is the same. The people who actually create the music, behind the scenes, get Zero credit (with the exception of a few like Dre). While those who "write" the drivel they either "speak" aka rap, or sing get all the credit. Eminem has Dre to produce all of his beats, which is the only reason he ever got of the ground. The only thing you need to get into the rap industry is to know people. As long as you know people like Dre, you are already there.

Other genre's actually require that you have talent, and tour and WORK HARD. Thats what rock music is, the best of those that do it competing. Starting small, working hard and long and touring to get heard. Then you might get recognized. Some bands out there have to work for years, earning nothing before they make it if they ever do. With Rap it seems they simply pick someone off the street that fits a certain demographic and go from there. Very little changes from rapper to rapper, and how can it?? Since there are maybe 5 people out there producing all of the music, the only thing that changes is the voice and the lyrics. And even with most of the lyrics, they're still the same theme.

Country music as well - there are only about 10 people out there now that actually write the songs. Opposite of how it is in the Rap industry, the people who perform/sing the track get the credit when behind the scenes theres actually only a few people writing ALL of the country song's lyrics. And people wonder why it all sounds the same. But thats a whole nother topic.

/end troll session :D

It's not even a QUESTION. Jay Z has albums such as : Reasonable Doubt, Vol1, Vol2, the Black Album

Eminem has........ well........... a few.......... mediocre albums.

I know I was trying to get him to talk about his opinion like you have. Not convince him he's wrong. And I'm pretty much in agreement with you on Nas.

I think you also need to keep in mind the two things that seperate em and jay z . Em sits down with note books and note books of rhymes and a thesaurus while jay z is more of a natural spitting everything off the head only. That in itself puts him on a higher level to me as I feel I could sit down and write out a ton of rhymes too for a few years straight and I'd probably be pretty incredible too. Jay-z never had to do that...which is why to me he may not be using the entire dictionary but his words still seem much more poetic than Em. Em is def still top 5 without a doubt.

I can't stand the mainstream RAP, but that doesn't mean I don't like rap in general. I came in here because I think its those who listen to nothing but mainstream rap that are pathetic. Refer to my previous post. People need to get out there and actually hear what HIP HOP is. There is good hip hop out there, they simply don't play it on the radio.

So am I trolling? Its open for debate since I am a Rap fan, I just like to see all of the sheep around here who know nothing about actual Hip Hop music and all of the different sub-genres contained there in. Only what they hear on the radio, which is only a fraction of what you call "rap".

Not sure I can find better bars than this from anyone outside of Nas:

"No more games, i?ma change what you call rage
Tear this mothafuckin roof off like 2 dogs caged
I was playin in the beginnin, the mood all changed
I been chewed up and spit out and booed off stage
But I kept rhymin and stepwritin the next cypher
Best believe somebody?s payin the pied piper
All the pain inside amplified by the fact
That I can?t get by with my 9 to 5
And I can?t provide the right type of life for my family
Cuz man, these goddam food stamps don?t buy diapers
And it?s no movie, there?s no mekhi phifer, this is my life
And these times are so hard and it?s getting even harder
Tryin to feed and water my seed, plus
See dishonor caught up bein a father and a prima donna
Baby mama drama?s screamin on and
Too much for me to wanna
Stay in one spot, another jam or not
Has gotten me to the point, I?m like a snail
I?ve got to formulate a plot fore I end up in jail or shot
Success is my only mothafuckin option, failure?s not
Mom, I love you, but this trail has got to go
I cannot grow old in salem?s lot
So here I go is my shot.
Feet fail me not cuz maybe the only opportunity that I got"

easily jay-z. not saying he's the best as i can easily put a few more rappers over jay-z, but between these two i give the nod to jay-z. hell, the man doesnt even write down his lyrics and will knock down a track in one take!

your speaking in generalities certainly does cover just about everyone.

There are many rappers that do start off liike unsigned bnads. Making htere own beats rhymes, and hustling there mixtapes and performing shows to create a buzz before a label picks them up. That does take as much hard work and talent as any band coming up.

Too your other point I'm not hearing anything too innovative in the rock world. There are songs I care for but most I loathe. and lyrically....i never seee or feel anything from the majority of them. Rap lyrics ...if they are good....will at least tell a decent story. Country music lyrics......dont even get me started.....Can you demonstrate something new here? I think they had done everything twice 20 years ago. IMO mediocre playing of a guitar is just as overrated as producing mediocre rap beats.

In the end your kind of stuck since most of the sh1t you hear regardless of genre is gonna be trash and the good stuff you rarely get to hear because they don't get the publicity because they are not MTV-able.

that is all hope it makes some sense.

eminem's beats SUCK! and his flow is too nasally for me. most of his songs sound like he is trying to paint himself as being so conflicted when i think most of his problems are his own contrivance

JayZ most definitely. And if you're a fan I suggest watching his movie Fade To Black, it impressed me even more. Plus he gets points for having the hottest gf in the universe.
