I can't imagine that is a very popular move in the locker room. Unless Devin Harris didn't want to go either and put him up to it.

thats a horrible trade, nets ripping them off. Why give so much for a disgruntled guy who wants out? They should be able to get Kidd for much less. Keep Diop!

They've clearly graduated (summa cum laude) from the Grizzlies/Lakers School of Basketball Trades.

Hahahaha ... Devean George's move is like everybody in your home packed to go on a vacation but the retard in the family screams and wails at the last minute about not wanting to go.

The Guys on PTI loved this trade because of Kidd's work ethic and intensity. What they failed to mention is that there are no big guys on the team to back up Dirk Diggler :(

this is bad. Still better to see trades than no trades. DAMN YOU PACERS MANAGEMENT!

Can't believe we actually did this. I'd rather get rid of Howard than Harris, but that's just my opinion. We lost way too many players for Jason Kidd. WTF was Cuban thinking? Any two of those would equal a Kidd, but not 4.

really? Howard instead of Harris?

Yes. I'm not too sure about this season, but previously, Howard was putting up better numbers. I've just never really been impressed by his play...I think long term Harris is going to be better, but that's just my opinion from all the games I've seen him play.

so you'd rather give up maybe your best or 2nd best player who's a SF instead of your decent PG to get a top notch PG?

Several problems with this post. First, PG is a hell of a lot harder to find than SF. There are a lot of Josh Howards in the NBA. There were a few in last year's draft, as a matter of fact. So yeah, I would rather trade Howard than Harris every day of the week.

Second, Kidd is overrated. Yes he has magic, but he is OBVIOUSLY on the downside. And he cannot shoot worth a damn. He's a good point guard, but Devin was starting to come into his own and likely has a near decade left in the NBA. Straight up, I would not have traded Harris for Kidd for this reason. Now if we could have traded Terry, then sure. But everyone knows Harris is the more valuable player.

Harris is supposed to be the PG of the future, or was the intent when we signed him to an extension. I don't see Howard as the PG of the future, starter or not.

And Kidd is hardly a top notch PG anymore, not by a long shot.

Uh... Howard is a swingman, plays the 3. Plus, Harris is definitely overrated by Dallas coaches/etc. He just doesn't have a presence on the court to lead the team. ANd really, Dallas just didn't have a true leader. Now they do in Kidd.

You are wrong about Harris. He was doing very well this season. If you remember, which you probably don't, some point guards, like Steve Nash, take years to become good point guards. Devin is going to be a very good one, a lot like Tony Parker.

Finding out from an ESPN article that the nets were just going to buy out Stackhouse's contract and the Mav's would resign him makes more sense ultimately for the Mavs.... time will tell tho

I'm glad. You know he hasn't been playing much this year, and deep down, he has to be smiling at Mark Cuban and Avery Johnson. He just fvcked up their plans :) I am glad, because the Mavs get raped in this deal.

yeah your right the spurs aren't too good at halfcourt, y'all can definately beat them at their own game.

I'll LMAO if the Spurs don't end up making a move/trade and win the championship again ... that'd be classic.

Why? It wouldn't be that surprising considering they are the defending champions....Why would/should they make a trade or move at all?

Exactly, they don't need to. And I am a Mavs fan saying that.

And wow you guys love Harris. I think he's decent at best. I was in the "give him time" camp too until we gave him time. He was playing heavy minutes (and ones that count too) his rookie year, how much more time does he need?

He's not going to be Tony Parker. I don't like the trade but not because we give up Harris. We just give up way too much.

George backs up his words with his play in tonight's game: 0-11 FG, 0-2 FT --The worst shooting performance in the entire league this season.

George's agent advised him to reject it...he'd lose the larry bird clause in his contract, that allows a team to do a sign and trade deal for him in order to sign him. If he lost that ability, it could significantly affect his income for his upcoming contract, since he's in his final year now. Good move by George...(by George, good move!...)

no question he's a good point guard, but he's not going to be great.

and I don't think you can win a championship with Devin Harris as your floor leader/PG

the bird rights are gonna do anything for Deavan George.
He's a career role player.

On this next contract he's going to most likely make a LLE or be out of the league.

I'm curious what Devean George and his agent's angle is here. His agent mentioned something about not wanting to lose his bird rights, but come on, like anyone is giving him that kind of contract? This can't make him popular in the locker room, and will not win any points with him around the league. With him being a fringe talent, he may have sealed his fate in the NBA, owners and GM's remember this kind of thing.

No one gave him a no trade clause, it's part of league rule. If a player has a one-year contract and will have Bird rights after the season, he has to consent to any trade involving him. There are a few players under this rule right now, Chris Mihm is another one. (the one thing thing excludes option years, Mihm's 2nd year is a player option)

Dallas radio now reporting Devean has changed his mind and will now agree to be moved. Cuban probably threatened to have him bumped off.
