On another note, heres a little theory of mine....

Suns have an $8 million trade exception (From the Kurt Thomas trade)

Suns will use this trade exception to pick up Stackhouse after the Nets buy him out.

Then The 2008 World Champion Phoenix Suns are complete.

The Rockets were injury riddled but at full strength and a healthy Tmac / Yao, I can see them getting past the first round. Scola has been playing better as of late.

against who? Phoenix? New Orleans? LA?

Phoenix - Probably Suns in 6 or 7 but who knows how the Suns look with Shaq.
NO - Rockets in 6 or 7
Lakers - Lakers in 6 or 7
San Antonio - Rockets have played them well this season.

Rockets are hot right now winning 9 of their last 10 games, they could climb up higher in the seedings.

I hate to break it to you, but everyone in the West is red hot right now.

Not as hot as the Rockets. The Rockets have shown what kind of team they have when they're healthy (11-1 over 12 games). The 2nd half of the season is a much easier schedule as well.

Come on. Are you being serious right now?

Suns could beat the Rockets in 6 at the MOST
Spurs could beat rockets in 5
Lakers could beat rockets in 6

The rockets are a good team, dont get me wrong. But I would put them at 6th or 7th best in the western conference at the HIGHEST.

can't argue with being 6th or 7th at highest. Far as spurs go, we're 2-1 against them this season, and espeically with bonzi regaining his form to when he killed the spurs as a king, i think we could push 6-7 games, darkhorse to win that series since we're more suited to play halfcourt teams.

yeah your right the spurs aren't too good at halfcourt, y'all can definately beat them at their own game.

I'll LMAO if the Spurs don't end up making a move/trade and win the championship again ... that'd be classic.

Why? It wouldn't be that surprising considering they are the defending champions....Why would/should they make a trade or move at all?

Don't let the Rockets' recent record fool you, they've had a pretty easy schedule for the last month or so.

Rumors floating around concerning several people, recently it's mostly been Mike Miller from the Grizzlies - but that has died off. And while we may be the defending champions, we've been fighting through some injuries this year, and really bad offensive slumps. Of course, we did have those terrible offensive slumps last year too ...

You're on crack if you think the Rockets will take down any of those teams, even NO. But that'd require you to get into the playoffs, and that more than likely won't happen given the teams that are in the SW division.

Yeah, just like people were on crack that thought the warriors could beat the mavs in the first round last year? I do think the Rockets have a good chance to beat those teams mentioned. The Rockets had a tough schedule in the first half http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/...on=2008&sortColumn=sos the second half becomes much easier. A 50+ win team won't make it to the playoffs this season. But I think the rockets with the way they're playing right now & their schedule for the 2nd half can actually move up a few spots in the standings.

It's not my rockets. I'm in Atlanta and am a fan of the Hawks (weak eastern conference, they actually have a decent chance to make the playoffs). But what does being like the warriors have to do with anything? The point was anything can happen in the playoffs.

because only a rabid fan or an idiot would choose the rockets as clear favorites over NO. Anything can happen, but you need the ingredients to do so. T-Mac and Yao don't have that emotional/playoff explosiveness that would make an upset likely.

This is getting way off topic. Yeah only a rabid fan or an idiot would choose the Giants over the Pats in the Super Bowl. Opinions are opinions, I have my reasons - I think the Rockets match up well against the Hornets. Whatever you say won't change my mind, whatever I say won't change yours - but we'll see what happens down the line.

you don't have to come in first or second in your division to get into the playoffs. they are tied for 8th right now (they're 9th due to tie breakers). they only have to be better than portland (fading fast) and either golden state or denver to make the playoffs.

That will still put them, and keep them in 8th - do you really think the Rockets can keep up with the Suns in the 1st round? Shaq always played Yao well, and after a last half season burst, do you think T-Mac would be up to it? Doubtful. Rockets should tank and offload T-Pain-in-my-Back and pick up some young talent.

There is still no official word on this trade that I can find other than 'They're closing in on a deal'.

It could be they are waiting for players to pass their physicals like in the Shaq trade. These things take time before they become officially stamped by the NBA. From what I hear the Mavs are going to resign Stackhouse after he is bought out by the Nets. So this trade essentially becomes:

Kidd for Harris, Diop, and George. Considering Diop and George are expirings this trade is essentially Kidd for Harris which is a great deal for NJ. They get out of Kidd's contract and pick up one of the best young PG prospects in the league.

Kupchak looks smarter, even though he made only 1 move. The other 2 were done for him. :p

Seriously though, Dallas and Phoenix both took on 35 year olds, in turn giving up some real talent, especially Harris. I just don't get it. My lakers are not infinitesimally better with Gasol, nor does he guarantee them a championship.

Maybe those teams are just sick of having the same roster and wanted to at least LOOK like they're trying to win it all.

Well for one SOMETHING wasn't working out for the Nets cause they are just doing horrible this season and Kidd seemed to have want out from the get-go. So this should breathe some new life into the Nets and I can actually watch some entertaining basketball on YES! network :p

So whats the Nets starting lineup look like assuming Nenad will be back this year ?? (or maybe not).
