But you seem to have difficulty grasping simple concepts such as responsibility.

How the fuck does personal stuff intrude into professional responsibility. I do understand that she broke the rules, but don't you see a systematic perversion going on there?

Many of the girl signup when they are 13-15 year olds, theirs parents must be responsible for negotiating the deal of the contract. The whole thing just sends a chill down my spine.

She was 13 when she joined the group, I am sure she understood every damn word of the contract.

Considering she apologized, I'm very certain she knew full well what she was doing when she did it. If she wanted to do it, she could have just bought herself out of her contract. But she wanted to have her cake and eat it to.

But please, try coming up with yet another excuse.

Honestly, I don't think anyone outside of Japan has any right to judge. It's their culture and whatever it is is working since their country is civilized. We should look at ourselves before we look at others and criticize the way they handle their own shit.

Have you seen the Japanese suicide rate recently?

I won't double post the same thing. My original post to your first response to me works just as well here.

Where did the lesbian part come in? 😛

I've spoken Japanese on the forum before to our resident Japanese dude. The one who lives in NC, I can't remember his name right now. :<

What is his freaking name.. TYamamoto or something like that.

I'm pretty sure you made a claim about that in some thread. Impressive with the japanese language, however, it's very difficult for a native english speaker to approach.

AKB48 is a big thing in Japan

They are called the Akihabara (where they are "located") 48 😛

Akihabara is fucked up place. So much Japanese culture and stuff

This.

Tell me about it. 🙄 Every lesson is an uphill battle. Currently, I am working on retaining Kanji. There are so many that I do not use on a daily basis, so I forget...and then it pops back up again in a reading or online and I can't figure out what it is.

If you're interested, I can point you to the textbooks we have used over the years. Just let me know. Always happy to help people.

I also have a pretty good group of Japanese friends both on Skype and at school (International students) if you're interested in Language exchange.

To the lesbian thing...that was just a joke. I'm pretty sure it was something about Rihanna..... haha.

So, for the sake of Confirmation. I am a 22 year old - black female - College slave - 4th year Japanese student - Rabid "The Sims" fan - willing to go gay for Rihanna

😛

I speak ~5 (european) languages; don't honestly have any interest in japanese. Spanish will be next if anything.

On the other topic, the desperation of suburban white people reaching for cultural identity is very palpable in this thread...

I don't want to get in a heated discussion about this. Obviously they're not perfect but all things considered, I'd rather have their suicide rate than our murder and violent crime rates.

I dont think you have to have a high murder rate to have a low suicide rate or vice versa.

Which is partially tied to people not having healthy sex lives.

I thought it had something to do with being grouped on the train by Japanese Businessmen on the way home from school?

On a more serious note. Japan has made attempts to get more serious about the connection between bullying and suicide in their country. It really is a big problem. Basically, that stuff you hear on the news every once and a while in the US about a kid being bullied and offing themselves......that happens in Japan....a lot more than you'd think.

A few years ago (7 or so). I watched a Japanese drama about a girl who was bullied in school and killed herself. The school tried to cover it up and a teacher tried to expose it. He couldn't do anything about it.

That is another problem in Japan.

Needless to say, the show was not popular. It did not come back for a second season.

It was one of the saddest things I've ever watched next to "1 Litre of Tears"

All I'm saying with that is that we're judging and criticizing their culture like we know better... like we're better than them. But we don't... and we're not. That is all.

I don't think anyone was criticizing Japanese culture as a whole..it was the bully culture that was being criticized in particular.

America is guilty of this as well.

But, I can't say I've ever seen a "celebrity" post such a disturbing apology video on their management's youtube page.

I don't think anyone can say with conviction that this would even be a story had her management not allowed this video to be posted and would have just handled it privately with her.

I guess mine has gone over yours.

See how useful that response is? 😛

No, you ignored the rest of my comment:

Don't be beta. Problem solved.

I'm pretty sure you lost his attention at "13-15 year olds". 😛

You sort of have to look at it on the whole in order to somewhat understand what's going on. Japan is a country that prides itself in taking responsbility for ones own actions. So it's not entirely outrageous to them to let her do what she did even though in our eyes it's overblown and unnecessary.

This is how I see it.
