Not a single Nissan. Damn you Nissan. Why did I buy a Nissan?

I think the study was based on cars bought 4-5 years ago. Nissan & Infiniti has gotten a lot better recently (2-3 years).

I have a Buick Regal....woot! Made the list for the most dependable midsize runner up. The winner was the Century....which won because it's cheaper. 😀

This is for the 2003 model-year BTW. It's taken JD Power 3 years to get these out according to NPR this morning.

You need to change your title there bucko...

"Domestic manufacturers have largely managed to pull ahead of the industry average. Of the 13 brands that ranked ahead of that average, the majority were American. In fact, six were U.S.-based brands, five Japanese, and of the other two, one was German and one was British. Chrysler, Pontiac, and GMC, meanwhile, clung close to the industry average but did not do better.

While I know for a fact that Japanese cars are the most reliable, with names like Ranger and Yukon on that list, it's no wonder I NEVER trust JD power
Because you have your own, more accurate stats, right?
Toyota isn't gaining financial ground at insane rates just due to GM and Fords horrid pension plans. They are also not paying for insane amounts of warranty work due to a cheap ass parts bin.

"Because you have your own, more accurate stats, right?" to prove that startement as well?

There's a lot more US than Japanese brands I believe. And the Japanese car manufacturers are top-heavy (Honda, Toyota).

Why do you think in the OP's link all the japanese cars that won in each category except one Mazda were either Honda or Toyota (Acura/Lexus in the luxury section). Like I said, top heavy.

WHO CARES if it's top heavy. Is this just a lousy excuse to defend domestic cars?

MixMasterTang's top 2 reason why these lists are dumb:

1) They only take into account "problems reported". There is no rating for serious vs. minor problems. So therefore if a car's engine blows up that is the same as the weather stripping on the door letting in a little bit of water.

2) This is within the first 3 years when most of the cars are still under warranty. If something goes wrong within the warranty period it is a minor inconvience to me, I'd rather see something in the 5-7 year range.

Especially the Zero's they made that bombed Pearl Harbor :disgust:

Wow...you're sad.

ROFL. I guess he was directly affected by those bombs and wants reparations. And to this day, he feels a sense of false entitlement for comepensation.

Oh wait, then maybe the British suck... they killed a lot of americans too! And the chinese must die! Koreans too! let's throw the vietnamese in there too! Let's destroy mexico, they killed americans at the alamo!........

FFS are you serious?

Also, I just read earlier today that according to Consumer Reports, Volvo is generally the most reliable car brand. I don't have a link yet, cause I can't find my cell phone right now.

Problem is after 5+ years most problems, expect those that are traits of that line, are more based on the owner not the car. I have seen plenty of those "crappy" GM cars/trucks with 100k+ and less then 5 years on them with nothing but basic service as well as hondas and toyotas with 60k or less that have needed major repairs or even major internal engine work.

Agreed. People transferring Honda's and Toyota's reputation for quality to other Asian brands always makes me laugh.
