it was purely a publicity stunt
shes been out of the public eye for years and has a new CD coming out soon.
i personally dont see problem with it.
a lot of the more conservative ppl in my office do.
i wonder though, if they wouldve shown an Arab getting shot on TV if they wouldve cared this much.

what makes me leary of this is the people that want to turn college football into this.
you have a bunch of ppl that are basically indifferent to the outcome of the game and just there for a status symbol.

That's my take. Irresponsible and in poor taste.

I'm not a parent, it was all just a publicity stunt...I wasn't even watching the game (I was at work) but I saw the clip. Big effing deal. I agree there's a lot worse out there, but the stunt itself was pretty lame.

I dont think its a good idea to flash the hole world on prime time tv! I mean how many five year olds where watching the game???????

EDIT also just think how many 18 through 30 something year olds that havnt had sex that are making threads about boobs more than usal now.

cant argue with that:beer:

The problem wasn't the stunt. The problem is no one wants to see that ugly wenches 40-year-old tittie.

I thought it was in poor taste, but wasn't really surprised when I heard about it. Obvious publicity stunt and everyone knows sex sells in our culture. Not a parent btw.

I couldn't help but chuckle and think of the following Simpsons quote though when I keep hearing the never ending debate on this. The setting for the scene - 20 years in the future during a flash-forward scene as Marge flips on the TV to be greeted by porn movie sounds:

"You know, Fox turned into a hardcore sex channel so gradually, I didn't even notice." :D

The stunt had no musical redeeming virtue and was intended strictly for the shock value and publicity.
Note the original denials and the the slowly slipping out of the truth bit by bit. PR milking

Allowed Janet to get into the limelight vs her brother (good or bad?)
Allowed Justin to one-up Britinay with regards to the kiss

Imagine if it had been Britney doing the halftime show and the same thing happened. Janet's Tivo stat for being the most 'rewound' event ever would pale in comparison I'm sure.

Justin is desperately trying to prove to the world that he has a pair of nuts. Nobody takes former N-Sync members seriously. Much less the wussiest member of one of the wussiest bands in recent history.

Hey, I thought it was a stupid stunt, I'm a parent & I'm really glad my daughters were in the other room when it happened.

Maybe the stunt will open up a dialog on our cultural norms & we can soon have all the nudity of the Europeans, god knows we need nore nudity.

The music is just an excuse to portray a bump & grind, I don't need either during the Superbowl. I have to tip $1 to see it & I'd rather see it live wihtout my children.

We monitor what our children watch, I have the ratings blocked with a password, so we can ensure they don't tune into Sex & the City while looking for Sponge Bob Squarepants.

I didn't appreciate that they circumvented the whole ratings system etc...

It wasn't a Major problem. It was lame but so was the Halftime Show. What was the NFL thinking, since when has MTV produced anything that has been worth watching?

haha it was a HORRIBLE halftime show, it doesn't bother me that they did it, but I find it funny that after they realized that it set off a media controversy, justin timberlake said it was a "wardrode malfunction" and in the snapshot you can clearly see that janets cups were buttoned to her "janet jacket" for easy tearage perhaps? And COME ON! she was wearing a star boobie tassel! You don't just put those on before you leave the house. MTV = :disgust:

Actually it was a Piercing Nipple Shield and she does wear those when she leaves to house!
