Crysis is immune to the laws of gameplay. The graphics alone sell millions of copies, the first title is a testimony of that alone.

Not so much for other games.

i enjoyed crysis, although it does drop off once you hit the alien section.

i think i've beaten the game 3x.

What exactly was Crisis missing in terms of gameplay? It is an FPS... You point, click, and kill. The fact that they added suit options is far more advance than most FPS on the market.

They just did what any PC developers who loves games does: they made an FPS based on a physic engine about aliens invading. Shit, that is Half Life right there. Granted they forgot writers, but whatever.

Yep. People must not be turning up some of the high end graphical settings and seeing how sick the lighting and shading gets.

Look at some of those screenies.

That still doesn't look that good and with the system in my sig I can obviously run practically every game with everything turned all the way up.

Someone should tell their artists that a sunset with bright full moon and fully visible stars all within about a 5 degree viewing window isn't possible. The light pollution from the sun would ensure that the stars were unseen and that the moon was faint, not glowing.

That was a user-made shot using the sandbox and Crysis assets. It was meant to be artistic, not realistic.

Even the CEO of crytek admits the story fell short, and while Crysis 2 isn't a complete reboot, they distanced it enough from the first story to give their new writers freedom to make it a good story. (they hired some best-selling sci-fi writer to lead the storywriting). Crysis 1 was all done in house. If you read about what resources the put together to add to the gameplay and story to Crysis 2, it's completely different and rather exciting because it seems like this time around they cared more about gameplay than graphics.

Crysis 2 in 3d, if anything could make me buy some expensive 3d shit for my computer, it would be that game.

Also, NIN, one of the reasons I loved Quake 1 so much.

Anyone who has read Richard K. Morgan knows that he writes amazing Sci-fi. I just hope that Crytek gave him enough artistic license to let him handle the story and they just work on the gameplay.

Read some of the Takeshi Kovacs novels by Morgan and tell me you're not excited for what he does with Crysis 2.

The graphics didn't seem that mind blowing and I did watch the 720p version...

I was really expecting something above and beyond Crysis 1 but it looks pretty similar, IMO.

Meh, not very impressive. The textures have that typical muddy console look.

Have you played Crysis? It's much better than most other FPSs I've played. I also don't have a super-amazing gaming computer, so I've never been unable to run it smoothly at full settings. It's a good game, plain and simple.

I think this as well. The good graphics just makes the experience better, IMO.

Yep. We're all aware that the second half of the game has a poor reputation, but the first was some of the best FPS gaming I've ever played. Love the way guns feel in this game.

Dear god... ANOTHER fucking TechBoy/Crysis/Crytech thread. This is getting ridiculous.

Dear god...ANOTHER fucking post from someone who entered a thread they obviously don't like knowing what it was about to begin with. This is getting ridiculous

Yea, I've been into game design my entire life, and I'm an avid Gamer. Crysis isn't the only game I play, but I think the engine and what the company stands for is remarkable. It's a great piece of technology and it represents the state of the art in gaming.

I don't know why SunnyD chimes in everytime. It's like walking into a bathroom and getting upset "omg, another person taking a shit!".

It's a PC gaming forum, and Crysis, being the graphical powerhouse that it is, is a big part of PC gaming. at least imho. It's set the bar for graphics, and it looks like Crytek has turned their attention to setting the bar for gameplay as well. I'm personally stoked.

yea gameplay wasn't bad or anything. it got pretty epic in couple scenes.
the problem for me was more about performance than anything.
looks pretty, but if you want to run it looking that pretty you suffered from poor performance.

True, I played the game on a 9600xt so it looked like crap, but i still enjoyed it, couldn't finish it cause the last level was a slideshow.

Great game IMO, the part after the alien ship let the game down though.

That's like complaining that your Honda Civic doesn't run well enough for drag racing. It's a good game in its own right, and to say that it's bad because cutting-edge graphics need a good computer is a bit silly. It actually ran quite smooth for me on medium/high settings with a single core, 2gb of memory, and an 8800gt.

:colbert:, My Honda Civic could easily rape all vehicles on the drag strip.

I ran it on 2 4850 512MB, Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 3.6GHz, 4GB of ram, and some other crap... It literally became a slideshow during the very last boss fight. I had god mode on though, so I didn't worry.

But the performance was horrible trying to run anything but maybe medium graphics at 1920x1200. I so badly wanted to play Multiplayer with all the graphics turned up and getting 60FPS. If I could and had the right system, I would have easily bought the game.
