All these people doping for sports/workouts like it's the natural thing to do, it's no wonder you never hear of long lived body builders/football players.

Pre-workout drinks have 4 active ingredients. One of them is caffiene.

Studies exist that tell you what you need of each of the 4 ingrediants to get maximum rewards.

None of the off the shelf stuff have good mixes of what you need. Most are sugar water comapred to what you should get.

The best and cheapest way to use these drinks is to simply by the ingerdients indivudually so that you can actually give yourself a proper mix. Notice jack3D and all of the clones have aproprietary mix of ingredients. None of them give a proper mix. Most are glorified gatorade.

Right now, I take L-arginine (one of the 4 ingredients) only. Doing so to try it out. I think it is more of a placebo effect than anything real though.

OPtimimum amounts:
•L-arginine – at least 3 grams but more effective at the 6 to 12 grams level
•Creatine – 3 grams and pre-workout is not necessarily the best time to take
•Beta Alanine – 3.2 to 6.4 grams daily. 1.2 grams pre-workout
•Caffeine – 100 to 200 mg

Now take into consideration what hte size of one serving is. The ingredients alone should be 10+ grams. Now think about all the filler (flavoring and sugar) that is in your mix. I doubt you are even getting half of what you should be getting.

Have you tried Jack3d?

Have you tried Jack3d?

No.

If I had to choose one pre work out mix, I'd probably use Jack3d. I've read enough about it's ingredients to know that is among the best of the worst.

I use L-Arganine and while it did show some effect, I view it to be placebo like in nature. It might have real effects. I just don't know. Actually, studies do show it to have effects if you take in the correct amount.

L-arganine is one of the things in Jack3d. It's just that the amount is unknown. But based on one serving size that is supposed to have all 4 in, it is a safe bet that you are not getting enough of any one ingredient to actually matter.

L-Arganine and a very large coffee probably has the same effect as jack3d, if not better. Caffeine is a stimulant and L-Argnanine is supposed to affect your veins in such a way as to improve blood flow.

Yeah I was just wondering. You can the ingredients of most pre workout supplements in raw form, but for convenience and taste I'm fine buying Jack3d. I've tried Purple Wraath as well as some Orange crap my buddy and I used to use back in the day, and Jack3d is on a different level. Since I only lift twice a week now, one container lasts me a while.

bacon,

Curious. How many servings (scoops) do you take of jack3d? What does the packaging recommend? Are the effects noticable?

I do about 1 1/2 or so and the effects are very noticable. Within 10-15 minutes I start to tingle and by the time I get to the gym my energy level has gone up and I dont burn out anymore. Seems like I can do a lot more while I am there. I have also noticed that Ive started to put more weight up over the last two months since Ive started taking it.

You should, by this time, be well aware of the benefits of working out with caffeine. This is the primary stimulant in Jack3d. If you’re not into caffeine or have never worked out with it, you’ve been missing out! Beginners should start with just 1/2 or 1 scoop of Jack3d to get acclimated.
Caffeine increases focus, helps burn fat by heating your body up (it is “thermogenic”), and numerous studies have shown it as a performance enhancer. Our estimations are that there’s about 100mg of caffeine in each scoop of Jack3d.

Actually, I also see that the active ingredients per serving (scoop) are 4 grams total. So there are 4 grams is the "other stuff". Where studies show that a proper mix of the "other stuff" should be in excess of 10 grams.

Studies show that 100-200 mg of caffeine has benefits. Jack3d gives you that in 1.5 scoops. Sadly, with such a small amount of the other stuff, the otehr stuff is pretty much ineffectual.

Anyways, that much caffeine is equivilent to 2-3 cups of coffee. That's probably why you tingle a bit. From everything I have read about the various mixes, caffeine is a common tactic used by manufacturers to make people think it works. Caffeine does help (studies show benefits in the 2 g range). It's just that given the mix of ingredients (or lack thereof) in a scooop of jack3d, you are pretty much only getting the benefit of caffiene. Alot of money could be saved by simply drinking a large coffee.

Try two cans of red bull (80 jmg each of caffeien) and see what the effects are. I'm kinda curious.

EDIT: Turns out that one of those other active ingredients can cause skin tingling in some people. Read the link above. It is interesting.

One of the most attractive ingredients in jack3d is 1,3 dimethylamylamine which is banned in some organizations but it is supposed to act like a very powerful caffeine. I've heard some people talk about it like it's similar to speed. I couldn't tell you why they put stuff like creatine in amounts that don't matter in it. I supplement it separately anyway.

One thing that attracts me to something like jack3d vs 2 cans of redbull, which may have a similar effect, is the fact that it's a hell of a lot cheape.r Redbulls are roughly $2/can so taking 2 a day would be $4*24(# of workout days a month) which is about $100 vs $20-25 for a 45 day supply. Also it's a lot less fluid to take in prior to working out.

1,3 dime has some pretty bad side effects if you take it for a long period of time.

probably, I don't plan on taking more than the 2 tubs on jack3d I've got then I'm switching to something without 1,3 dimethylamylamine not so much because I'm worried about side effects but because I plan on competing and would hate to be dq'd because something stupid like that.

I was just saying that a test would be to try Redbull instead of jack3d for one workout. just see what the effect is like. Not to make it your regular pre-workout beverage.

I was doing jack3d for a while and then started to read that it can test false positive for amphetamine in a drug test. Of course there is alleged "evidence" of peoples drug tests that came back positive so its a "take it for what its worth" type thing. I do a hybrid p90x-p90x+ -insanity workout and I got to tell you, it sent me through the roof on the lifting days. I dont like the fact that you should only take it for a few weeks then cycle off for a few weeks. I'd rather get Slap energy drinks at walmart ( 12 for 10) to get my caffeine fix before working out and not be jittery as hell afterwards.

Peace

Redbull and slap and monster have nothing on Jacked or noxplode. It's a completely different thing. I see a lot of analyzing here but not enough trying. Try it and then tell us what you think.

You've tried Red Bull pre workout and jack3d pre workout?

Sure have. I have done 2 redbulls pre workout and it gives energy, but it does not give the same focus and drive along with the extended output that both jacked and noxplode do.

I run about 3 scoops of jacked or 2-3 or noxplode depending on my mood, I think they perform similarly but reiterate the jacked for me offers more weight and reps and the NO has a larger "pump" feeling.

1,3 dimethylamylamine is what causes the false positives for amphetamines, it's also the same thing that's banned in some organizations. It apparently it's chemical compound is very similar to amphetamine/ephedrine and also has a similar effect on the CNS.

bacon,

Curious. How many servings (scoops) do you take of jack3d? What does the packaging recommend? Are the effects noticable?

I take 3 scoops with 16 oz of bottled water 1 hour before I lift. I have a very high tolerance for uppers, and caffeine in particular. 3 scoops is the maximum dose. I would not suggest taking 3 scoops if you haven't taken it before.

What I notice is that in the later reps of a set, I tend to maintain my strength much better than I do without it, so I can do more reps.

Other noticeable effects are, I get itchy, like when I take niacin, and also my muscles feel "tight" for lack of a better word. They feel filled with blood and ready to work, even before I start.

I experience a crash a few hours after taking Jack3d. I'm not a big napper, but I usually take a nap on days when I lift and use Jack3d.

bacon,

Thanks for the review.

I might give it a whirl in the future. 3 scoops is an assload of caffiene.

As for your itching, one of the ingredients is can cause your skin to feel different.

The itching isnt for everyone. My buddy who takes it also gets it all the time. I have had it happen just a few times over two months. He takes 2 scoops and im only taking about 1 1/2.

Tried the White Blue Raspberry since Mr. Ego said it was good and it definitely tastes way better than lemon.

IMO this tastes kinda like diet soda which I don't really like but it doesn't make me cringe so I think I will stick with this.
