Honestly, it's a good thing that camera was running. I doubt a lot of those people were actually paying attention to what was happening in that moment. They probably just heard scream and smash and breaks, turning around, and saw girl falling off the hood of a car. I think most people would instinctively blame the driver. If not blame, you certainly put more attention into the girl on the bike, in those moments, because that's the only person that will be injured.

I drive very defensively, I'm most likely not going to cause an accident but I am nearly hit by people almost once a week. Just this afternoon I had a school bus move into my lane while I was right next to it. Driver never even looked and when I laid on my horn he just kept going.

I got hurt many times on my bike as a kid. From skinned knees and elbows to broken wrists, fingers, collarbones, chipped teeth, even ruptured spleens (my brother), I can't think of many kids I knew who didn't get hurt at some point on a bike.

80k is standard max plating weight. There are 160k+ loads driven on a daily basis by people with enough skill that they could be piloting aircraft.

You're right. I have a street corner across from my house exactly like this with 8 foot tall overgrown junipers. It would be expensive to take them out, but I can't believe the property owner can't see the potential liability.
