Thanks! Nice to meet all of you nice people!

:D

I rofl'd at how everyone looked at the driver like he was at fault...

I blame Darwin for not following through.

Honestly, it's a good thing that camera was running. I doubt a lot of those people were actually paying attention to what was happening in that moment. They probably just heard scream and smash and breaks, turning around, and saw girl falling off the hood of a car. I think most people would instinctively blame the driver. If not blame, you certainly put more attention into the girl on the bike, in those moments, because that's the only person that will be injured.

if you've actually got the choice.

around here, if you leave enough space for a vehicle to fit between you and the car in front of you, someone will cut you off to fill that safety space.

Yep. I firmly believe that such people should be shot on the spot. No deliberation.

Congrats to all those bragging. You've been able to avoid an accident in a tiny personal vehicle with great braking and safety features on huge roads designed to accommodate 80 ft long truck and trailer combined while carrying 80k pounds. Take away all that margin of error by driving said truck and trailer weighed down to 80k pounds then you have my attention.

Where are all these braggarts of which you speak?

Or did you just make them up so you could get in a tough guy post?

Who pays for the damage to the car?

Serious question--If that was my car, there is no way I am taking a hit for deductible and loss of value.

You're going to sue the little girl???

Let,s put it this way, you're driving in a crowded campground, accept that there are hazards associated with this activity.

It's great to see she was wearing a helmet, I hope she is OK

I've managed to not have an accident on the interstate system despite moronic truck drivers cutting me off every 20 miles or so.

I drive very defensively, I'm most likely not going to cause an accident but I am nearly hit by people almost once a week. Just this afternoon I had a school bus move into my lane while I was right next to it. Driver never even looked and when I laid on my horn he just kept going.

12 years riding a bike, I never got hurt once.

Never??? Wow. You must have really been pushing the envelope. Did you ride a tricycle until you were 18 or spend most of your free time playing video games?

I got hurt many times on my bike as a kid. From skinned knees and elbows to broken wrists, fingers, collarbones, chipped teeth, even ruptured spleens (my brother), I can't think of many kids I knew who didn't get hurt at some point on a bike.

The point of defensive driving is to reduce the risk of accidents as much as possible. Unfortunately, it doesn't drop to zero.

80k is standard max plating weight. There are 160k+ loads driven on a daily basis by people with enough skill that they could be piloting aircraft.

Then you have my attention.

right. I think after 20ish years of riding motorcycles it has taught me one thing. That 99% of the people driving are fucking idiots.

As soon as people starting forcing helmets on their kids, accidents everywhere.

WTF?
Do helmets weaken your delta brain waves or something?

whaa? LOL no. just no..

I don't need to be on 2 wheels to know that much. :|

What would be awesome is a horn that spews out a random vulgar/grossly offensive phrase, preferably some variation of pointing out the other driver's lack of intellect.

Park should have gotten rid of some of those bushes at the corner though.

You're right. I have a street corner across from my house exactly like this with 8 foot tall overgrown junipers. It would be expensive to take them out, but I can't believe the property owner can't see the potential liability.

The driver in OPs video was not coasting and idling with her foot on the break with low-vis intersections in a park ground?

And she's a good driver?

Laff.
