This is a great thread for kids just getting out of college.
You are NOT a special snowflake.
You do not know more then people who have been working at the job for years and you will not change it.
Jobs want you to fit them. not them fit you!
again..YOU ARE NOT A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE.
What a bunch of cheapos... I'll give you $150 cash for the vacuum and the trashcan.
I said it before and I'll say it again:
I believe TridenT is really a 12 year old prebuscent fuck that lives in his parents basement and is making up this entire story (including the vacuum and trash can). The Internet is the only way he is able to communicate with other humans. He's laughing his nuts off as we speak. Jokes on us, guys!
Sounds like you're just unhappy with yourself. Moving anywhere won't change that.
What a bunch of cheapos... I'll give you $150 cash for the vacuum and the trashcan.
It'll suck nearly as much as this thread.I'll go $150.01. I've never experienced the bliss of a $1000 vacuum. :awe:
go to northwest dc and your tone about dc will change. you're in a shitty part of maryland right now (pg county) which is borderline a not-so-nice part of dc. dc is big, and like any city, it has shitty parts.
It'll suck nearly as much as this thread.![]()
I guess. But this thread has entertained me for months!
Well, boys, I got fired today! Poor fit, so to speak. It was clear to them (and me) that I didn't want to be there and do things the way they were doing them. (It was quite poorly managed at many times; lack of vision, direction, initiative and so forth) So they fired me because we came to a large crossroads where it was obvious that the methodology they were using wasn't working. I don't think firing me will have fixed their problems.
Yeah, because you have SO MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE to be able to make a sound and accurate evaluation.
Got the vacuum cleaner today, guys.
The suction isn't as impressive as I imagined. However, the unit is extremely quiet. It's not much louder than a fan. However, the powered head (that has a brush) is itself quite loud in comparison. It's still not bad and I could see myself vacuuming at night but it's not anywhere near as quiet as the canister itself. The whooshing air from different attachments (like wind instruments) can produce a loud noise and so can the noise from the powered head but it's actually really quiet otherwise.
I like it so far!
You don't need many years of experience to notice the evidence of poor management: They decided to hire Trident in the first place.
Soo if you're fired and have months left on apartment lease, what then?
I worked with this guy in tech support once... really nice guy and a great personality, but he was unfortunately a complete and utter dumbass.
one day, without warning, he just walked off the job without giving notice. just took his lunch break and never came back. the writing was on the wall that he was about to get fired, but a non-dumbass would have rode it out as long as possible to at least collect unemployment.
he then up and moved out of his apartment, breaking a lease that had another 8 months to go, leaving a completely trashed apartment in his wake (we were also neighbors... from what I gathered from the landlord, he somehow managed to ruin the entire bathtub and did random electrical work around the apartment, so he had to have an electrician come in to make sure it was all up to code and fix whatever wasn't)
he did all this to move in with his girlfriend (who lived at home with her mom) and pursue his dream of being a video game designer... the LL came after him hard to recoup damages and lost rent as a result of breaking the lease, and he ended up having to declare bankruptcy and ruining his credit.
today, 6 years later, he and the now-wife have moved out to the middle of nowhere PA and he's back to working tier 1 tech support.
EDIT: Also, I met a girl. But, that's another story. :awe: (And it has already made life complicated but it'll figure itself out soon enough)
Had a "technical" interview today. Mostly just spoke with an engineer for over an hour at a company.
He then tells me that the next step in the process is to do an 8-12 hour long coding assignment. (What in the actual fuck?) After that, there's a 45-min long phone interview about that project. And then maybe another phone interview (at this point, I kind of just ignored everything he said)... and then finally the onsite (4-6 interviews over 4-6 hours).
You'll never hire quality talent with that kind of interview process! Quality talent will NOT go through that. They will take the offer from another startup that is willing to interview them faster and with less bullshit.

That actually sounds like a good process, it's more hands on with less BS. Sure it may take more time but when you're unemployed it's not like time really matters.
