I finally got my new computer assembled. Not much as far as system specs go, but extrememly fast.

Albatron PX845PEV Pro
P4 2.53GHz mVID
MCX4000 with 92mm Zalman fan (very quiet:), I just thought to try it out for kicks, looks like I'll be getting more)
256MB XMS Rev 2.1 PC3000
Albatron GF4 MX440 Video (While waiting for my RMA replacement GF4 Ti4600 Vivo card)
IBM 60GXP 40GB HD
DVD+RW :)
SB Audigy MP3+
All the other goodies

Anyway I did not even bother running the computer at stock speed. Upon first firing up the computer I locked the AGP/PCI @ 66/33 respectively and upped the FSB to 170 to install WinXP :)disgust:... but now needed for support purposes.)

I am still downloading all the latest drivers and soon the newest BIOS so benchies/stability will not be available in short order. But I must say I am throughly impressed. It installed the programs absolutely the fastest I have ever seen on any computer :Q.
I always thought that these OC'ed CPU's were just faster in benchmarks... not visibly :p. That is the primary reason why I never thought it worth while to buy a NW CPU.
Now soon as funds become available, I am gunna hop on the Canterwood based systems :)

I am hoping the SL6S2 CPU makes it to 180FSB+ on default voltage as I am not going to feed it more juice for a few extra MHz.

60GXP is IBM's death drive. That and the 75GXP are the models they had all the problems with...
SR linky
Then came the 75GXP. Although the drive continued to deliver first-rate size and speed, an unusually large number of users complained about reliability problems with the model. A similar though lesser situation arose with the 60GXP, though its unclear whether or not users unfairly attributed "mundane" problems that occur with all drives (and/or all users) to the 60GXP's lineage. SR does not hold an opinion one way or another on the matter; we simply point out what we've observed.

The Albatron mobo rocks! Looks nice except for the 256 M of ram. Another 256 will perk things up nicely.

godmare, I was aware of that since people started complaing about them. But it is still going strong with no problems :)

oldfart, I totally agree. But 256 will have to do for now :(

Cool~ Glad you like it. :) I noticed that not only installing time, but it boots up to windows incredibly fast~ :p:)

How'd you like the Zalman fan? Is the noise comparable to.. say.. Panaflo L1A? I was looking at the same Zalman fan the other day... ;)

I typed that a little too fast. I meant installing programs is very fast. So is the amount of time from cold boot to being in Windows.

I tested the fan before getting the computer assembled and I could not hear it... at least motor noise :p But as of right now my Raidmax PSU is the loudest componant on the system execpt for the occasional use DVD+RW.

I would say the Zalman is just slightly louder than the L1A 80mm from the air it moves. But it's motor is every bit as quiet. I have yet to try out a 92mm L1A. So my guess is they are about the same.
