hope you dont mind driving the speed limit for the rest of your life then. all you need is to get pulled over once or have an officer run your plates/license and school will be the least of your worries.

Gah, I keep getting jury duty for San Diego too. I told them to postpone to the summer so I can do it and they said alright then they sent another one for jury duty. I go to school in Berkeley so there is absolutely no way I could get there even if I had the time. But I tell them I'm student yet they keep on sending. I even have the bad luck of having the Berkeley court to send me jury duty because I registered to vote here. :(

Don't worry, they'll put out a bench warrant for your arrest. They'll come pick you up then.

if you ignore it, sh!t will start happening in places you wouldn't expect. aka denial of renewed car registration until the matter is cleared

LoL. Double pwned. That's why i keep my registration for voting at home and I use absentee ballot.

Go to Sproul and get a copy of your registration. They will stop. That's what I did. Unfortunately, the paper says you're a student only until classes ends (excludes finals week). So what if they call you in during finals week? ;).

Why don't these fvckers just leave me alone!? i'm a full time student and I can't afford to miss any classes. Should i ignore this notice as well? i have a feeling that if i pick up the letter, then they have proof that i finally got one of their notices.

I'm in los angeles btw and our jails are overcrowded so i doubt i'll get arrested, but i'd hate to pay a fine as a starving grad student.

There's coverage for full-time students who would have to miss class. At least there is in Texas.

i'm pretty sure there are allowances if you are a full time student

But you are supposed to call in and tell them that. It is 5 minutes of your time to call in and explain. Now you have a fine because you weren't an adult about it. Not smart dude.

Odds are you can get it postponed until a later date. And just because you get a letter doesn't mean you'll actually be called up. And even if you get called up that doesn't mean you'll actually serve on a jury. Between a half dozen friends and myself we've all responded to a jury summons at least twice in the past 2 years and none of us have actually been on a jury yet.

If you keep pushing it out of your mind, the California Superior Courts are going to push you right into a jail cell.

Failure to Appear
If you are qualified and you have not been excused or had your service postponed, you must report for jury service. You may only have to call on the phone or check a Web site to find out if you should report for jury service. Any person who fails to respond may be fined up to $1,500. Jail time in addition to the fine is also possible. Carefully follow the instructions on the summons and contact the court if you need help.

I'm a student too. I came back from xmas break to find a jury summons in my school PO box. Over a week past the deadline too. So I called them and they said since I'm a full time student I don't have to go until after I graduate and I'm in no trouble... phew...

This is in GA.
