The kernel streaming feature found in other players is really a gimmick and I think only works on the placebo effect for users. Having tested the two on some decent enough speakers I can tell you that it is completely impossible to tell regular playback vs kernel streaming playback.
I can't believe you still insist you know a damn thing about sound quality after I called you on such ridiculous statements as (paraphrased) 'headphone amplifiers require car batteries', 'ipod stock headphones are good because they have neodymium magnets' and 'good headphones cost 500 GBP (~$1,000 USD)'. Were you also the one who claimed an audiophile system was $50,000 USD, or was that some other newb? With all the misinformation flying around (a lot of ATers actually think Bose is good  ) it can be hard to remember who said what.
Pray tell, what "decent enough speakers" did you listen to in determining whether kernel streaming / ASIO makes a difference? What sound card did the PC in question have? It's night and day on a Chaintech av710 -> Senny hd280s.
Well you're certainly correct on the misinformation flying about! Like I've already pointed out to you in other threads including the original thread where I was talking about these expensive headphones, etc, it was in jest. I know you'll ignore this and bring it up again as something to try and slate me with, but that's the way kids do things isn't it?
😉
Well here's my audio setup for your judgement:
Speakers:

And just a regular Audigy 2 sound card.
I've never claimed to be an audiophile or whatever, but my system gives a decent sound for my tastes and from my personal, first-hand experience I cannot hear any kind of a quality difference betweeen the above two output formats.
Have a nice day...
