itunes is a stupid piece of software

What about that proggy Yamipod? Doesn't that FIX this kind of problem?

As far as I know, all newer generations of iPods use FAT32. So a conventional data recovery program is worth a try.

I browsed some Mac forums and you're not the first person with this problem. It's not easily solved though 🙁 Somebody recomended to look at the software section of iLounge but I couldn't reach the website. I did a quick search on Versiontracker.com and YamiPod was the only program with repairing capabilities so far, you may give it a try, too.

as i said its all restored if you drag and drop the hidden files to itunes application window instead of trying to copy them manually

Restore from backups.

This is a known issue with iTunes, and the warning you said they gave you (it says something about replacing existing songs with those from the current library) kinda says "BE CAREFUL!"

You asked for data recovery software, not a new hard drive. It's a software issue. PM the mods with the links to the other threads that should be moved.

i love how people are all "ya itunes sucks blah blah" without actually giving or probably even having a reason for saying it sucks other then its from apple. do they think it sucks because it has built in measures to stop them from copying their music to someone else's computer through itunes? if thats the case then its not itunes that sucks.. its them really.

What if you want to copy it to another of your own computers? I have no problem with copy protection, but when it infringes on my rights (as it invariably does) it crosses the line. Other than that, itunes is a good program for people who aren't very familiar with computers, as it performs the necessary handholding. Personally I don't like it because I don't need that, so for me it's unnecessary bloat.

I gave iTunes a chance and still use it if they are the only one that carries the CD I want. But the fact is, the program just sucks. The interface is horrible and when you go to "delete" something, you never know if it is going to delete you purchased music or not. I bought a new CD, deleted it from what I thought was the playlist, it dissapeared and I never found it again, until 2 months later. I tried to check their online help, but it was horrible. Serioulsly, there is nothing easy about iTunes, it is a hack of a software and isn't clear about what it does.

I hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it!!! But, sometimes I have to use it anyway...
