Yea...same here. It organized all my mp3's to it's liking...it will take me hours to put it back the way I had it. Other than that I love it :D Works seamlessly with my Ipod

ok i've been using it for a little bit now and i'm failing to understand what it is this program does. killer app my ass.

so far, here's what i can see:

---plays my mp3's. but it does it slower than winamp, with crappy visualizations, and no "dancing EQ bars." the interface takes up practically my entire monitor while having huge areas of blank space. i'm running a P4 @ 2.75 GHz and there is a noticeable delay in interface response time.

---i can see a list of my mp3's. um. hello? Windows Explorer? same goes for the sharing crap. wake up people, it's called sharing a folder.

---the store. when i can buy full bandwidth wavs for 99 cents, i'll consider using it. as long as it's compressed, i'll take my money to the store and my downloads to soulseek.

---rips. ripping to AAC is useless and there are already a ton of programs that use the LAME encoder. this does look easier than those others. but i rip CD's about once a year. if i want to listen to a CD, i reach 2 feet to my left and pop it into my CD player. why would i purposely throw away quality, then play that crappy file back through a computer? i have a professional soundcard with sheilded cabling and breakout boxes and stuff, but your average user with an Audigy or worse is playing their audio back with equipment that's in the worst possible location in terms of interference. and i highly doubt Apple puts anything remotely resembling high quality line or headphone outputs on the ipod.

on top of this, there are all the above-mentioned problems with it being a huge memory hog and using "helper" exe's and stuff. so basically it does absolutely nothing i couldn't already do faster and easier with winamp, windows explorer, and nero. why god why?

Tried to add my mp3 folder and it just completely crashes. I guess Apple users don't have more than 100 mp3's.

one last tip of the hat to apple for not putting a shortcut to the uninstall program in the start menu folder.

you probably have some bad tags. you'll have to bust your ass fixing them so you can have the prilvedge of learning what bloatware is all about. bet you never had to do that to use any other media program before. that's because they were just wanna-be bloatware. real bloatware makes you work to use it. realplayer and windows media are for wimps.

No it's most likely because iTunes is a horrible abortion. Adding over 1000 mp3s makes the entire queue of the program fall to a horrid crawl before crashing and dying out. I feel the same way about the iTunes for mac, as I own both of them.

I added 1300 songs.. no problem at all although all my mp3s are properly tagged and ripped (I own the cd of every mp3 I have).. the only problem I have is with live stuff I download some people write tags like if they are on another planet or something..

I'm not impressed at all. Playback sounds much worse than Winamp + Enhancer plugin(and yes I tried the equalizer, nothing even comes close).

I'll stick with Winamp 5 beta for playback.

The iTunes store looks interesting, browsing it right now. Not sure if I'll actually use it, though.

Man, any interest I had in this service is gone. If I can't use Winamp 2.x or XMMS to play the files, forget it.

Ok, so far I like it, but.... how can I set it to stay on top of everything like i can do with winamp so i can see the song playing in minimode.

Gripes:
*Renaming stuff is tedious, they should make keyboard shortcuts for each file such as Artist - alt-a, Genre alt-g, Next - alt-n! would've saved me a TON of TIME!
*Allow "boxing of item" so when you use CTRL to select songs you can box some, like in windows explorer
*Crashed it when adding a song, sent song to apple as a bug. I added a bunch of songs and found that one song nested 3 folders down crashed it.

It's WAAAAAAAAAAY better for organizing your iPod with than MusicMatch. Music Match is ASS.

What do you guys use tags for? Is it that hard to organize your music, or do your players not function well without them?

I've never tagged any of my music.

Yeah, tags are redundant IMO. Each artist gets a directory, albums get a subdirectory under the artist, and songs not belonging to an album go directly under the artist dir too. All files are named "artist - song.mp3". Since it's all consistent, I can pretty much process them however I want with find/grep/sed/awk/etc.

that'll teach you! rofl

hey stupid, never heard of Tag&Rename huh? If you have a system in your filenaming, it will be done in a few seconds/minutes.

I just do mine like this:

/mnt/music/
->Dream Theater/
-->Scenes From A Memory/
--->08-Home.mp3

Actually I am very anal about having my songs named and tagged properly. More than anyone I know so that is not the case here.

that's odd.. I just installed it and added 2521 songs (all properly tagged as I use these for my ipod alread) and it took under 3-4 minutes.

those of us with ipds and other mp3 players will actually find the tags to be very usefull. Nothing like being able to search be album, artist, genre, etc. on my ipod.

The best tagging software I have seen is ID3 Tag-IT. It will look up tags for full albums on the internet automatically.
