<Bush looked great at first but when they started talking in depth about their policies regarding Foriegn Affiars, Health Care, especially childrens health care, the Enviroment and Hate Crimes, Gore was able to articualte his positions where Bush wasn't so successful. Whether you agreed with Gores positions is another issue. >
On health care Bush has the better stance though he is unable to articulate it as well.
No doubt that Gore is better at foreign policy, you expect that with him being the VP for 7 years.
On the environment, this comes down to the positions really. Gore is environment above all else. Bush is environment if it doesnt hurt the economy, federal or local.
Hate crimes, Gore wants more laws against discrimantion based on color, sex, sexual preference. Bush wants all people to be treated equal, making laws that gives special rights to certain groups is wrong in his opinion.
My opinion on who won what:
Foreign affairs, Gore most knowledgeable, Bush better ideals. Debate winner, Gore.
Environment: Gore most knowledgeable, Bush better ideals. Debate winner, Gore.
Health Care: Bush better ideals, Gore pandering for votes. Bush wins on substance.
Discrimination: Bush's plan on fighting discrimantion starts at kindergarten. Home Run for Bush! Education is the key to get out poverty and the way to finally close the economic gap between races.
Major Gaffe of the debate: Gore denying that he is attacking Bush in the add campaign. Such an obvious lie. He can say that he isnt doing the campign people are, but that doesnt wash. It's not that Bush isnt doing the same thing, he just doesnt deny it like Gore did.
Overall Bush wins this debate by a good amount.
