We finally got snow!

I hate snow, hate the cold, really hate winter. But I was worried that our first blast would be 12+ inches. Instead we got a dusting (less than an inch).

Just enough to muck up the roads and thin out the herd again this year.

I love living in the northwest - we usually only get an inch or two a year that lasts for just a few days. However, when you want to play in the snow, you just drive 1.5 hours east and you are in the snowiest place in the world.

Two weeks ago I went snowboarding and they ski resort got 43" of powder overnight - yes, overnight.

Holy crap that's must have made for amazing skiing/snowboarding!

Makes for even better snowmobiling.

There is nothing quite like beating the granola eating cross country skiiers to the sno park, and tracking up all the good snow before they can get up there. The looks of contempt are great, but all of us with sleds know it is just jealousy.

we got like a foot of snow. minor annoyance at best
15-18" here, yep, minor annoyance. I went into town to get coffee, and noticed on my way back home (5 miles) that almost every driveway has been plowed or shoveled out (by 9am). Roads are fine; was doing the speed limit on I-86 at 6:30 this morning. No one was even really talking about the snow; since it was fairly fluffy, it's a pretty insignificant event.

The only part that made it annoying was my son getting stuck in the ditch by our driveway (was pulling in and out of the driveway to just pack the snow down & lost traction.) That wasn't too annoying - what was really annoying was after I got him out backed down the road to pull into the driveway, he had very low visibility & drove over the bank on the other side of the road. Idiot.

One of my neighbors was nice enough to snow blow our driveway this morning, before my roommate went to work at 7am. I have off this week, so I set aside some time this morning to shovel. Looks like I won't need nearly that much time, except I need to shovel the sidewalks and shovel out the fire hydrant in front of my house.
