After playing about 3 weeks of closed beta this game brings some relief to me. After AoC failed to deliver this game promises a lot. A lot of people call it WoW 2.0 and they are idiots bc they see some SS and see that the art direction is pretty familiar but the gameplay is not at all.

This game is for people who like role playing games, people that love PVE and people that love PVP. If you love role playing the quests sure are a lot of the same kill quests you get but there is nice stories to them and a lot of progressive stories as well. The PQs are pretty much mini raids and really bring a nice easy social aspect to the game and I they get much harder as you move on throughout the game. The pvp well it is near a zerg fest in beta but once organized guilds get involved PVP or RvR is going to be a hoot. They have a lot of gear and different ways to come about it and lets face it we all love gear and progression. I really feel through leveling and gear that i am indeed getting stronger. Theres also a feeling of something bigger going on(could be the RvR that goes on in the distance but the game def does a good job of making the world seem alive. I think when the game actually goes live there will be a lot of stuff added that will further this and a lot of the bland stuff people are complaining about will be reworked to(spell animations, NPC reactions)

Im hoping I have time to fit this game in and from the looks this game doesn't have to be as involving as other MMOs and you can walk in and walk out as you please. I think mythic did a great job and there definitely a developer that will stick by there player based side.

They are fixing the pet/npc pathing ai, adding animations, adding high quality graphics, etc during open beta. Mark made a post on WHA about everything they're working on after the preview weekend

So What classes is everyone considering playing?

Me I like tanks so I will choose between Black Orc, Chosen, or Ironbreaker. All 3 are good, but as of the PW the Ironbreaker's grudge mechanic felt a little stronger than the Chosen's aura twisting (which was bugged) and the Black Orc combo mechanics. The Ironbreaker and Black Orc also felt slightly more durable then the Chosen.

I really like the look of the chosen and the Black Orc so I will probably play one of them at release. Or maybe both. One offensive specced and another defensive specced.

i'm going to stick with zealot again in open beta. server kraka. i can always find a group and zealot is not too bad solo.

Well, honestly, on the classes...i'll be checking em out on th creation screen, reading descriptions in game to get the impression i need!!

My old gank group from DAOC already assembled for WAR. If the rvr is anything like what daoc classic was then I will be happy as hell.
Had a Rank 10 healer and a Rank 10 Savage same account lol 🙂

This makes me wonder: what's the group communication system like?? /tell, /raid, etc? zone wide enabled?

one thing I don't like, and this happens in other mmos also, is that only certain races can be certain classes. I mean, I can see a few based on lore, like the White Lion, but not all.

I also dislike each race having it's own type of mount. I don't see why they can't make it so you can different mounts, within reason.

White Lions aren't the only class based on lore, every class with the exception of disciple of khaine are real units from Warhammer and it wouldn't make any sense for the classes to be available to other races.

you need to drop it

Well, maybe if just one thread went by where you didn't complain about something, I would. Frankly, it's getting tired.

EDIT:

In any case, having classes tethered to race only makes sense. If you're familiar with Warhammer lore at all (or the lore of any other MMO) that's the only way it could be. They're trying to stay true to the source material.

then don't read my threads. how hard is that? or if you do read them show some self control and stop trolling them?

you're not far behind in the troll-mobile when I'm not complaining about something anyway.

Who cares? STALKER Clear Sky is almost out! 😉

I have both on pre-order 😉,besides Clear Sky is really a short term game ,as we know Warhammer requires decent commitment being a MMORPG.

Anybody know how many classes we can make on one server,I know you can't have classes from both sides(Order and Destruction) on same server, that's to stop spying.

Yourthreads? This thread is huge and I've been posting in it from the beginning. In fact, if you were a little nicer to me, I'd be more than happy to share my beta experiences. And as far as trolling your threads, like I've said in the past, don't flatter yourself. We're just lucky enough to frequent the same threads. I guess if you'd like, I could stop pointing out when you're griping about something. Would that do?

Some news on their European website.

We are pleased to announce the information that many of you have been waiting anxiously for - the Headstart dates!

All Collector's Edition pre-order customers will have access to the Headstart from the 14th of September while all Standard Edition pre-orders will be joining them a day later on the 15th. The full range of live servers will be available to choose from when the Headstart begins and you will be able to keep your characters and any progress you made with them for the live launch on the 18th of September (note that this only applies to characters created during the Headstart, all Open Beta characters will be wiped before the Headstart begins).

This will be a very exciting time for everyone as we begin the realm WAR in earnest!

Maybe I missed it, but when I was playing in the Preview Weekend, I traveled around wherever I could go as a level 7. I was looking for a map similar to WoW that showed the current "zone" you were in and what hasn't been discovered yet.

Things I want to see in this game for me to commit to it:

PVE
5-6 man PVE dungeons. The most fun I had in WoW were the 5man dungeons where everyone needed to pay attention to succeed.
25-40 man Raids. The 2nd most fun I had in WoW was the amazing amount of effort needed to tackle their raid zones. I raided Molten Core through Black Temple and that is when I quit the last and final time.
The Harpy Quest/Canon Quest etc. etc. - I didn't feel I was shooting anything, just whack a mole, that quest could have been so much better and it was over within 15seconds.
Reputations: Maybe they have something similar (ie: influence) I wouldn't go to the extent of reputations in WoW but a little bit doesn't hurt (WoW could have easily fixed all the gripe by grouping reputations in categories and just having you work towards category completion instead of 100 different reps.)

I know I know, this game is centered around PVP etc. getting to that.

The World:
I walked around all about the world and it didn't have the variance of WoW. I came to what looked like a portal to another zone. It didn't let me in. I guess I didn't give it enough time but I never did find the capital cities. The lighting system and higher end graphics might fix this. But a lot of the world was either forest or desert. Mix it up a bit people.
Snow, Rain, Fog (Their fog looked crappy, next patch might fix the graphics a bit)

PVP:
I sensed a little imbalance, just a little. That rogue like bitch is annoying as all hell.
Also they had these repeat quests that were in the "war zones" if i remember correctly, well if you get these quests and queue, and then travel around a bit, and the queue pops, after you are done you have to run all the way back to turn the quest back in and get the quest again. Lame Lame Lame if you want to level faster by grinding/pvping.

Gear:
Gear is everywhere, its almost as it doesn't have value. You can gear up so quickly by a number of things, renown, public quests, influence, drops. A little scarcity goes a long way.
Durability: I didn't see it but it must be there since I'm assuming your weapons break sometime during the game, this is one of those things that people loved and hated about WoW, but it needs to be there.

UI:
Yes this can be fixed with mods etc. But I really couldn't tell you how much damage I was doing just how fast the health bar was going down of my enemy. Only times I knew I had a critical hit are when it said "Critical Hit" I played a mage in WoW and enjoyed big numbers. This can be easily fixed.
Also buffs and debuffs I would rather them listed on by the mini map where I can clearly see them. Not under my name.

Things I liked:

Clicking on your party member and getting an arrow as far as where to go to find them.
The "run away" button.
The "Hearthstone" without a cooldown
The ability to "queue" anywhere for pvp
Crafting: I think they really nailed it.
Public Quests: Something every MMO from here on out will most likely have
Variance over the classes (Combustion needs to go away though)

All and All, this game has potential but I really need my PVE, I can't pvp grind and grind and grind however fun it is. I enjoy an even mix.

I could see people getting hooked by the pvp of this game as there is a little indicator showing you how the WAR effort is doing and making that little arrow on that little bar move will be the objective of everyone at all times.

Just out of curiosity, how many, if any of you know anything about the Warhammer universe?

I do not know anything beyond a few of the tidbits from in-game lore and a little bit of the stuff on WAR Online's website.

Same here. To me the lore and story line isnt important. If its a fun game and a decently good one in all respects then thats all I really need. Besides, if I want to know or learn more about the story background I can always go read about it. Game play and graphics are far more important in my opinion. Get those two right and the rest is gravy.
