I dunno, I kinda think the Braves of 96 were. In great position to win game 3 and go up 3-0 against the Yankees in the 96 world series. Become the first team since the big red machine (Reds of the 70's) to win back to back world series.

and then fuckin leyritz comes and hits a 3 run homer, yanks win game 3, then win the next 3, Braves dynasty continues to win but will forever be remembered as the consistant october chokers, Yanks go on to win i don't even know how many world series between 96 and now.

Maybe it's just cuz I'm a Braves fan and that still sticks out in my mind, but the magnitude of this game and the rivalry between the two teams certainly gives the feeling that this is one of the biggest games and comebacks in the history of baseball.

the yankees won that year and 2 more. ONLY 2 more.

but ya, this one was bigger tho, although the stakes weren't as high.
Only FOUR total eh?

my bad. i was thinking 3 in a row. they had the one before the 3 in a row.

ok, if pedro comes in with a 7 run lead and loses the game in the 7th inning, than that will definitely qualify as one of the biggest chokes ever.

Yes, the Yankees will be known as the biggest chokers ever. As much as I don't want to see Boston win, it's quite funny and cool to see Boston come back.

i want to know why the hell pedro is in there. let him rest. absolutely no need to get the fans going.

Holy shit, is your username long enough?

does this qualify as one of if not THE biggest choke in sports history?

No question.

Biggest NFL choke - Oilers blow 35-3 lead against Bills, 1993 NFL Wild Card game.
Biggest NBA choke - Suns squander a 3-1 lead against the Rockets... 2 years in a row.

This has to be the biggest choke ever... no question.

i remember watching that oilers bills game. that was definitely one for the books.

but this one clearly surpasses that one, if boston somehow manages to win it.

I hope Steinbrenner's happy.

it's all his fault. i started a thread on it.

his free spending ways at the cost of real baseball moves is what killed this team.

Which is a product of baseball...

Since the players union doesn't want a salary cap, the owners dont want a minimum payroll. What can you expect when one owner wants to spend money on his team while majority of the other owners dont?

I pretty much agree. You could spend a lot and have a good team as well, but blindly throwing money at a team is no guarantee, and this proves it.
