It's Official: 2004 Yankees, your name is C - H - O - K - E

they just showed some stats for teams coming from down 0-3. only 2 teams have done it in any pro sport, both times in the NHL.

edit: so I would say, yup.

does this qualify as one of if not THE biggest choke in sports history?

Topic Title: Yankees were up 3-0, IF they lose game 7 tonite. biggest choke ever?

Appropriate that it's the Skankees to make the biggest choke ever.

Well, as someone already said, it definitely would be in MLB history...and I guess it's kind of hard to equate across different sports, especially since football doesn't use a multiple game format.

I was just on the phone with my friend in NYC...I told her to be careful if they really do lose, stay off the streets 😉

biggest choke ever would be up 2 runs in the 10th inning, up 3 games to 2 in the WS and having 2 strikes on the batter numurous times and not being able to win

Well, if the Sox lose this lead, it's equally pathetic.
Umm, hardly even close to being equally pathetic.

They're up 6-1 in the 4th. Blowing a 5 run lead isn't pathetic?

Make that 8-1.
Hmm... blowing an X-run lead in a game vs blowing a 3 game lead in a 4-win series ?

Comes down to one game here, and so far the Yankees have blown it.

woot, go bosox.

I dunno, I kinda think the Braves of 96 were. In great position to win game 3 and go up 3-0 against the Yankees in the 96 world series. Become the first team since the big red machine (Reds of the 70's) to win back to back world series.

and then fuckin leyritz comes and hits a 3 run homer, yanks win game 3, then win the next 3, Braves dynasty continues to win but will forever be remembered as the consistant october chokers, Yanks go on to win i don't even know how many world series between 96 and now.

Maybe it's just cuz I'm a Braves fan and that still sticks out in my mind, but the magnitude of this game and the rivalry between the two teams certainly gives the feeling that this is one of the biggest games and comebacks in the history of baseball.
