Paying more for your ticket? Taking longer to load? Paying baggage fees? Paying for meals/snacks? Less friendly employees?

What exactly do the big boys offer?

An assigned seat and 2/3 class configurations.

Well notwithstanding my quibbles on some of those points I'd say a better shot at an on time arrival lately. I'm not comfortable using them on complex trips where scheduling is tight anymore.

I feel safer now.

Exactly....

Less people in the air = Safer planes

To truly feel safe during holiday travel, you really need to use the buddy system:

People actually fly through Midway?

of course. Way better than ORD as far as airport experiences go. And if you are flying Southwest in that direction, you will likely stop at MDW.

Also, it has a Potbelly at the main terminal. I will fucking take a one or two stop trip just to have access to Potbelly.

Are you trying to imply that Southwest isn't viewed as a bargain airline? And, said airline flies to a bunch of smaller airports exclusively? Are we to expect someone who is able to offer reduced fairs to offer an experience of that to the 'big boys'?

The only thing annoying about southwest is standing in the order queue for however many hours before the flight--especially at Hubs like in Denver where some of those gates are back to back, so some flight queues are piled on top of each other.

I used to fly Southwest all the time, when I was living in Chicago, as it was easiest to find a flight to all of my destinations at the times I wanted. At that time (~7-12 years ago), The planes and flights were nothing to write home about.

Now, they've definitely improved the inflight experience, the planes are comfy, and compared to anyone not named Virgin, they are far superior in terms of overall experience.

bah, I'm no fan of tortas, and I don't much like that Rick Bayless, neither!

:colbert:

My mouth is watering just thinking about the spicy chicken torta I'll be having Thursday. I'll take the white man's mexican food over anything at either airport. ;)

The overall experience is better than O'Hare but i always thought the fresh food options at MDW were limited. Potbelly is good, but I don't eat at any of the other places.

I didn't realize that MDW had any choices other than Potbelly.

:hmm:

Unless it's a private 737 or bigger, your chances of crashing go up substantially!

Is it your mom that never loved you? Maybe dad? Did daddy leave you? Mommy brought you too many daddies?

What the hell is wrong with you?

I fly through midway any chance I get. I hate O'Hare so much... it's an awful airport and usually a total clusterfuck. I only use O'Hare when I absolutely have to for business flights, and I've never had a good experience. I've yet to regret going through Midway, and I've yet to enjoy going through O'Hare.

Small planes crash far more often than larger 737+ planes, at least in the US. You should be educated in such things, especially if chartering such a flight.
