I blame Apple's Mac Vs PC commercials. They brought a new level of rhetoric and hatred to the conflict.

Apple wanted to cash in on an "us vs them" mentality, but with 97% of the world's personal computing market using something besides Apple, you have to expect a good amount of backlash.

I switched from blackberry to iphone and still love my iphone. Who wants to fight about it? I don't love it because it's an apple product like so many others... it's just a really solid device that has great apps and good features for the money. I hear ya. I personally think we have reached the point, though, where the Mac haters are significantly more arrogant and annoying than Mac lovers (and I certainly would not have said that several years ago).

One thing Apple is absolutely pioneering is the idea that non-user-replaceable batteries are "better".

Nothing says forced obsolescence like a battery that can't be replaced by the user.

That is annoying, but as long as you have an Apple store nearby it's not a huge inconvenience and saves you having to deal with recycling the old one.
