I don't believe it. Why on earth would nVidia sell a card that is faster than titan for less? It was ok with the original Titan and the 780Ti, because the Titan had other features that the 780 didn't have. So it appealed to a different market.

A Titan X however has none of those other features to set it apart. Its a gaming card only.

I don't think Chinese vendors are typically concerned with NDA as much as NA retailers tend to be. Things seem pretty lax over there when it comes to that sorta thing. More than likely, the retailer knows something is coming but doesn't know the details so they pulled the VC specs as a placeholder. I could easily see a cut down version of GM200 boosting to 1200 MHz which really is no big deal since every single Titan X pretty much can run at 1.4 GHz on the stock cooler. Even if by chance it is a full GM200, 1200 MHz is very doable since NVIDIA seemed to have purposely underclocked the Titan X. I wouldn't count on reference version's clocking any better than the Titan X, maybe custom AIB versions by Asus, Gigabyte etc will reach 1600+ but that wouldn't happen this summer.

The picture could be fake for sure but the listing shouldnt be. Its a big hardware retailer selling many graphic cards so they should be reliable. Probably a way to avoid problems with NDA and detection etc

As am I, but the 2GB VRAM hurts in a couple newer games. Titan X is out of the question for me. Now I'm just holding out to see how the battle between the 390x and 980Ti plays out. Plan is to stick with these 680's until Windows 10 is out as I think games utilizing DX12 are really going to push VRAM usage to a new level being able to draw so many more unique objects on the screen.

They did exactly that with the original Titan models and the 780 and 780 Ti. The only difference this time around is they had a significant amount of DP performance they could cut out to differentiate the cards for different markets.

This time around, I'm curious if they will cut any compute performance to differentiate the products. Ultimately, they might simply settle on the brand (Titan vs numbered series) serving as the sole differentiation.

I also don't think 6 GB will be the sweet spot for 4K gaming as GTA V already reaches that limit with some MSAA added into the mix. I regularly reach 5.4 GB at 1440P alone with that game. With these new generation titles, we're looking at a shift where 6 GB = 1080p and maybe 1440p with no MSAA and 8GB+ for 1440p+DSR or MSAA/4K and 12GB+ for surround.

GTA V is one of the worst examples you could have used not only because it uses VRAM dynamically, but also because it uses VRAM differently depending on the GPU maker. You can easily get 5-6GB of VRAM usage in GTA V at 4K but it doesn't at all mean it's "required."

Also, the game uses way more VRAM on NV cards than AMD.

It's absolutely wrong to assume that if MSI AB is showing 6-8GB of VRAM usage in the game that the game actually requires that much to run smoothly. The way the driver handles VRAM allocation for a specific game also matters. Right now 12GB is largely a waste due to poor SLI scaling with 3-4 Titan Xs (i.e., you can't get 70-90% scaling where the extra horsepower is beneficial to actually take advantage of so much VRAM at 4K or 5K). Coincidentally where dual Titan Xs hit the sweet spot is most likely 6GB. If there was actually a game out there that required more than 6GB, the Titan X would have run out of texture and pixel fill-rate processing power since it's less than 50% faster than the 980 4GB. By the time next gen games start using 6-8GB regularly, Titan X will be a mid-range to lower-end card. That's why a 980Ti with 1200mhz and 6GB of VRAM is going to be a way better buy than the Titan X.

Nothing in your post points to that conclusion. You can't take a 12GB NV card and a 4GB AMD card, check MSI AB readings and say that the game uses more VRAM on Nvidia cards in general.

Maybe 980Ti price will be closer to Titan X this time around. There's no DP to castrate, and the only difference would be a bit of vram. Titan X SC cards are already 1127 / 1216 (or buy a regular card and flash it). In Heaven, my core clock starts out as 1278-1316 but drops to 1139-1228 (varies on scene) after warmed up, default fan profile.

So 980 kingpin buyers are SOL lmao.

6GB really is the sweetspot due to console hardware this gen & moving forward.

Considering the 980 is more than twice as fast as a console, and I'm being pessimistic here, it's probably faster, no, 6GB being the sweetspot has nothing to do with the amount of SHARED ram consoles have.

FWIW, neither the PS4 nor the Xbone use more than 2GB of actual VRAM. They just use their RAM for other stuff.

You find no other sellers at taobao listing GTX 980Ti. Or 390X for that matter. I can`t remember finding any leaks there earlier and you know me Joker, I can find stuff.

Yes, exactly. According to their review feedback, they get about 1000 reviews a month, decent size, but not newegg size or anything.

Even if it is totally legit, it's still listed as a pre-order with an expected release date of September, so not sure how to draw from that an impending release. Again, not the first time something like this has happened if they're already taking pre-orders this early without any solid info, it even happens with sellers on amazon and ebay some times.
