LOL good one!!!

anyway you can get the 6800GS which is a way better deal than that or probably wait for the 7800GS which is supposed to launch Q1 next year I think, it should crush the X1600XT at about the same price!! Considering Nvidia recent track record it should be available at launch.

the X1600 was pulled because of its abismal performance. but they are reworking it with a 256bit bus so it would be competative.

This is what i heard anyway. I dont think it is gone forever.

Woah woah woah you lost me gentlemen. Can you explain what's going on?

I thought it was ATI's business plan to stop all production this fall. They were going to keep their stock afloat by simply paper-launching products every business cycle until someone notices.

They don't actually make any ... but I own an ATi card that's written "Built By ATi" on the box. How strange ... I must be ATi myself and I must have made it last night, but I forgot about it.

Yeah.

Its going for the same price as 6600GT (preorders), so its a good deal in that sense.

I seriously doubt anyone is gonna buy the x1600 even if it was available. With a 128bit bus and only 4 texture units, it sux at any game that doesnt have the shader load of 3dmark. They could either sell it for $100 - $150, or redesign it with a more balanced architecture. Otherwise it might as well be the next nv30.

Im not gonna get one, I already have a 6600GT, but I was still interested in what it could do with official drivers and for how much it could oc. I'm always watching the mid range class cards and their pricing.

They have issues that is for sure but then again so does every company the world over. Yeah, it looks like all their products are now simply paper-launched  The real test will be the R580 which they have stated doesn't have any issues with production. If they release it on time in January/February timeframe (of 2006 LOL) then I think this rather getting old bashing will silence for awhile.

Disclaimer: I own ATI stock (bought at $10.50) and an actual 7800GTX

They have been avail over seas for about a week, such as in Greece, Denmark, etc. Perhaps they are getting them first, instead of last like usual.

That's sort of weird, unless they're having supply problems.
