Anyone else hear that we're only getting 2200+'s from the AMD event in DC? Kinda a shame :)

They should give out 2400+'s I mean.....its still a step down from the 2600's which have been surfacing in many places. Googlegear to name one of them.

I know its free, but I really want a 2400. I guess if I get a 2200 it's going to Ebay and I will be buying a 2400....

2100+ is only 100$ now, the 2000+ is only 90$ Googlegear.com They SHOULD give out 2400+'s its not a question anymore....its almost like a statement. I mean....wtfh its not Like AMD is paying more for their own chips than Googlegear does. And if googlegear is making a profit......ya kno what I mean...

Am I the only one out here who remembers that the proper response to being given a CPU (or any other gift) is "THANK YOU" and not "Why aren't you giving ME a 2400+ like you did at XXX instead of this measly 2200+." Fer chrissakes. It was free. Be happy and move on.

...yeaaaaaa but 2400+.......whyyyyyyyyyyy.......lol. Its just that it really doesnt cost em anything to give u a 2400+. The second thing is that they claim the processor is a 185 dollar value when it really is more like a hundred...and to them 50$.

Ever wonder why in a contest, say for a new car, the value is based on the MSRP, even though, you as a loyal anandtecher can easily find it for less (and with a coupon & pricematch). Why? Simple. The government wanting its unfair share gets more taxes from you by using the inflated MSRP. And the company giving away the product? They get to write off the MSRP as a "business expense."

I will try and make the Philly event on the 18th. I will be armed with digital cameras and presumed to be dangerous.
Anyone who shouts out PHILLYWOOD is guaranteed to be photographed.

Hmmm. I could make it interesting and hold a contest.....the Loudest, most reverberating howl that yells out "PHILLYWOOD" gets an 8x10 glossy from any image on my site or the one I take of the veins in your neck.

OK, I am there on Thurs (?I think) in DET. Geez, could they have found a crappier area to have this??? They managed to pick out one of the few areas of DET I really do not like going to. I'll take the Palace parking lot at 6am anyday (last year) compared to this. I guess that keeps the crowds down. :)

I am considering driving from Kansas City to the St. Louis event and have room for one additional person in my truck....
Email me if you are interested in sharing gas/hotel expense. Hotel.com lists the same price (about $50) for a room with two double beds as a room for one. Will probably burn through $40-50 in gasoline (Yes my truck guzzles gas) Approx. departure time 12:30 Thursday Nov. 14th from the Kansas City area, return Friday morning... I realize this is short notice... Will attend both the earlier event as well as the general admitance event. If you do not have access to the earlier event, you will have to loiter/hang out till the later event. Email if interested...

I just received a call from AMD regarding the processor I won at the Denver event. They are sending it out via FedEx and it will probably go out today. They called to verify my address. It would be nice if they threw a hat in with it. :)

did they confirm it was a 2400? that's what they told us that night so i'll be slightly peeved if it is a lesser cpu. the price is right no matter what they send BUT they have set my expectations high and i hope they live up to their word :)

Kansas to stlouis. Thats over 350 miles. It cost something like 33 cents a mile to operate a vehicle these days. By the time u factor in food and hotel and beer youd be better off ordering it through pricewatch. hehe

Regarding the suggestion to simply purchase and flip a coin:Where can you purchase a 2400+ for $100? And "Whats the fun in that?"

My offer allows someone from the Kansas City area to attend an event they may otherwise be unable to attend. My primary reason for going to the AMD sponsered event is not "What can I get if I go..." but rather "This could be fun..." Many have posted that they have had a great time even though they came home with nothing but a fond memory. The way I figure it going out to dinner and a movie costs near $50 here in KC. If AMD sponsered this type of event in Kansas City, with great food, computer nerd entertainment, free prizes, etc. and donated the tickets proceeds to a local charity I would pay $50 to attend...
