A few suggestions for AMD Marketing?

The people attending these events are very knowledgeable computer savvy active influencers in the market. They play an important role in getting the word out about AMD.

Everyone at these events should walk away a winner with at least a t-shirt and hat. Do you want this influential group to think they are a ?Winner with AMD? or a ?Loser with AMD?? These people could be walking billboards for AMD building name and brand recognition.

Don?t be afraid to ask the participants to help you spread the word. These people are already on your side. They are there because they believe in AMD and they want your products (anybody not there to get a free processor/hat/shirt?). Educate them, motivate them with freebies, and ask them to spread the word and influence sales.

With a little more effort and thought, you can have an army of informal marketing agents out there promoting your products.

Use the force.

I'll be down in DC tonight. Planning on taking the metro to Navy Yard and walking up to Nations from there. Haven't been to Nations yet, not really sure on the location. Think I'll survive the walk from the Metro? Anyone else coming?

You have to register first.

So you only need to have registered and print out the form to be a "VIP"??? Soltrain, you should be fine from the Metro, as Nation is only 2 blocks north.... YMMV ;) The Navy Yards area used to be much worse, but again, it is still SE DC  Funny how they list it as No. Va....they shoulda had it at Clarendon Ballroom, much nicer area and only 2 mins. from my place.

Take the metro, only 2 blocks from Navy Yard station. If you street park you run the risk of having your car damaged. I'm not kidding. A friend's car got broken into a few years back when we went partying down there.

I didn't see one. Just take a print out from the page that is linked to on the Channel Partner home. Take proof of being a reseller with you along with your print out and you should be fine.

Just got back from DC event. Decent turnout, but not huge.

The winner of the PC building event won by default after the other competitor fried his power supply. Lots of cheering when all that blue smoke poured out of the back of that PC. All 10 contestants to the PC build contest got CPU's.

The questions for the contest were similar to those mentioned in earlier posts. When AMD founded, where is AMD's HQ, various L1 and L2 cache amounts for different processors, what does PCI stand for, etc... Basically some PC knowledge and a lot of studying of AMD's promotional materials.

I didn't win anything, but snagged a couple of hats.

Just got back from DC, one of the two guys fried the power supply, so the other guy got the easy money.
I didn't win any chip, but it was a great night, thx AMD!

o, check out some pictures I took, quality isn't that great, but hey...

btw, they did not have any free food this time, only free sodas...

There were more people at the DC event than I expected...easily 400-500. The ticket ranges were at least that many, maybe more. They ended up giving 46 cpus through raffles and another 10 to the battle of the box contestants. I didn't win anything, but my cousin got called up for the 2nd round of qualifiers. I gave him a lot of the answers beforehand, but he never really got a chance to answer anything b/c people were buzzing in as soon as the guy said two words. There was no penalty for gettin a ? wrong, so I guess it didn't hurt to try.

The only thing I would say about the battle of the boxes raffle is to do something creative with your entry form, like orgami or a paper airplane or something. I was standing next to the guy as he was drawing and most of the ones he pulled were all folded funny, and he specifically commented on my cousin's ticket before he pulled it. My cousin knew before he read his name b/c of the way he folded it...just an FYI.

All in all, a good event. You don't even have to really try to get a few freebies, just stand at least 10-15 rows from stage and let the hats/bags/shirts fall into your lap.

I think im in a couple of those pictures dude,I was standing right at the bottom of the steps up to the stage the whole night, saw you run up with the camera when the fire shot out of the power supply on that guys machine, pretty funny.

I lucked out and won a CPU. Cracks me up how they had no idea when we might get them or what CPU they will even be. The event was fairly well organized....I'd guess 500 attended. If you're hoping to get on stage for the BoB questions, study those mentioned in this thread as they were exactly what was asked & the ppl up there were not too bright :) I like the idea of folding your BoB form into a funny shape.....you are right I believe....if they were unique, he'd pull em. Good luck all.

Planned to go to the PA at Nov18 but don't like to drive (NJ -> PA), THEN remember that it is our 2nd wedding Anniversary. Easy choice here. ;)

Its about the size of a 6x9 index card. I don't have mine because it went in the box ;) Only 3 things to fill out IIRC, first name/last name/e-mail addy. You could definitely "stuff" the box, but I didn't and didn't see anyone else doing it. I guess everyone there was behaving pretty ethically in the spirit of some good-natured competition.

Oh yah, if they caught ya you'd get DQ'd too :)

Went to the DC event yesterday - was lucky enough to win a processor (no one knew what speed or when they would send it). The event was put together pretty well but the MC was really reaching during a lot of the promotion and they didn't have the music at the club controlled well. It was pretty amusing when he kept on asking for the music to be turned up so they could have contestants dance for hats and bags, but no one was in the booth. "Lets get some music! ...How bout that music! .....Can we get some music up here? ....some music please? ...hello?.... please? "

The Battle of the Boxes was entertaining, the questions were exactly the ones posted here earlier. Contestants were interesting... I liked the guy who wrote "suck it trebek" for his name - but he didn't win. Also, noteworthy was the guy who said SpeedStep was the term used to save power for notebooks, he almost got boo'ed off the stage. I don't know how he did it, but one of the final contestants blew out his power supply, flames comin out the back and all. The guy said he put a 4 pin molex power thing into a 3 pin slot... I've never seen anything like that happen before. .. Personally, I think it was rigged somehow for excitement, but the guy who won didn't show any emotions anyway. For a guy that just picked up 2500 and a processor, you would think he'd be jumping up and down or something. Didn't get any hats, shirts or bags, the guys in the front were really enthusiastic (read: crazy) and picked up most of the stuff. I did get a lot (5) of those free AMD mints though.. they were suspiciously good.... mmm... mints. :D

I'd say it's closer to a 4x7 card, and it's normal paper, not stiff or anything.
